Four months in Purgatory

I lived at the Grove for 4 months and that was FAR too long. Everything people say is true and then some. The office staff are stuck up and rude. One staff member even made a point of showing up at my work with her fiancee just to harass me. Think anything was done about that' Think again. And you don't have to be a genius to figure out who's really writing all those anonymous posts saying how great this place is.

There is dog crap everywhere. Kids run riot up and down the breezeways and around the pool, where alcohol is imbibed freely. We saw one kid actually get attacked by some others. The police at one point threatened to arrest kids at the gates because every morning while waiting for the bus they would run out into the road and play chicken with oncoming cars. The kind of breeding stock that would produce these little criminals is exactly the sort of neighbors you'll have.

Noisy neighbors' When the guys downstairs wouldn't turn down their LOUD music, we called the courtesy officer, who wouldn't even answer his phone. When we began pounding on the floor, the police were called - *on us*! One of Summerville's finest, so wide he had to turn sideways to get through the door, gave us a lecture about "fighting power with power" and said that if we did it again *we* would be taken in for disturbing the peace! And the people that called were the couple next door that were constantly screaming at each other at all hours!

One day an actual SWAT team showed up armed to the teeth, searching cars and questioning residents. The office made no announcement about this and the staff played dumb when asked about it. I wonder if it had anything to do with the flyers posted that someone in our building was using illegal drugs and could we please let them know who it was' And yes, the exterminator just lets himself into your apartment, whether you're home or not. Guess the office staff will play dumb if anything of yours goes missing.

After 4 months of this and much, much more, my roommate decided to break the lease and move to another complex, while I opted to leave the Charleston area altogether. Oh, and the staff didn't even ask us why we were moving out - they don't care! For the sake of your own wallet and your own sanity, stay away!
