The Worst Six Months of my Life

I probably had the worst experience with any business living here. They even made it difficult to move in, which is highly surprising because it was before all the renovations started. They didn t call me about moving in until after I sent in the application fee, then proceded to say we were wondering who this was while looking at my checks. I had even come in a month earlier and gotten a tour from the manager. She wrote down all my information before I left. Later on I called back and stated that I would need an application and got their fax number to send it in. They need to take advantage of every possible opportunity to rent out apartments because it s not like they were great. It is very true "you get what you pay for" when living here. We had an awful leak in the ceiling above the washer/dryer unit that took about two weeks to fix. Then our AC went out in the month of September (everybody who lives in the low country knows how bad SC summers are). The maintenance crew told me they'd have it fixed by night but when I called the next day they had no idea what I was talking about and basically denied everything they had told me the previous day about the issue. Our dishwasher kept falling out the wall even though they screwed it back in place while they were there fixing the ceiling. The bug problem is awful. A termination company sprayed the inside of our apartment twice and the entire outside of the building once and it never seemed to fix the problem. I remember going in my cabinets to get cups and plates and seeing bugs crawling around. Despite all the problems with the inside of the apartment, a renovation crew moved my car due to "painting the parking lot" one morning before I headed out to class. When I got back over two hours later, nothing was painted. Almost every person working for the business is rude 90% of the time you talk to them. I might have been able to live with all the problems better if the management and maintenance were friendlier with the way they handle things. I have several pictures of the damage to my apartment before moving in and the water damage after moving in if anybody is interested in seeing them. Being a college student I understand that the rent is appealing but dealing with everything that goes wrong with living at Somerset Apartments, it's better in the end to pay more somewhere else. I know several people who live at different apartment complexes and they've never had to deal with half the stress I have living here. I advise anybody looking to move in, DO NOT DO IT!
