Somerset is HORRIBLE!! Maintenance is slack and lazy. Management is not intelligent enought to do any simple task. I have rats in my ceiling and walls (I live on the first floor), roaches and spiders are rampet even tho pest control comes out WEEKLY, I turned in a list when I moved in (May 07) of stuff that needed to be done and it has yet to be completed. It is a very shady neighborhood. Drug dealers, kids throwing rocks while waiting for the bus in the mornings even with parents around and cars parked, feces was in the pool and they did not drain it so tenants got sick. My kids do not go outside unless we are leaving. I highly advise looking some place else. A card board box would be better than Somerset.

I agree. I used to live in Somerset and think it wasn't bad, but I moved in July and my new apartment is a million times nicer and not much more expensive. I would never go back. I am a neat and clean person, but still had palmetto bugs in my apartment and I had left it for a month and went to do a final cleaning before turning in my keys and there was a hole in my half bath with a dead mouse sticking out of it. During the summer, I was constantly awakened around 8 a.m. with people in the parking lot talking around cars with loud music blaring. The pool was supposed to open at a certain and the woman who was supposed to open it would be sitting outside talking on her cell phone and tell me to come back later - it never opened on time when I attempted to go. My electric bill when I used my heat was around $300/mth. and never was resolved with SCEG blaming Somerset and vice versa... that was the only reason I moved and I had no difficulty moving out at the end of my lease term, but now that I'm someplace decent, I see that Somerset needs a lot of work.

It's not rats, its squirrels. I had the same problem. They come through the dryer vents. I had to threaten to turn then in to HUD before they fixed mine. You need a wire put over the dryer vent. But it is still a terrrible place to live.
