If you're looking for a lot of space for a little money, this is the place. If anything else matters, look elsewhere. We have a huge apartment for a great price, but when we moved in last August, it took two weeks before we finally got an air conditioner that worked. The walls looked horrible from where the "painters" had simply painted over peeling wallpaper. The carpets were badly stained. In short, the place was a mess. We were able to get most things fixed, but it took a while. In fact, everything seems to take a while around here.
The walls are thin, so you know your neighbors before you ever meet them. The place is getting a gradual run-down feeling. Several months ago, my wife and I were awakened by gunshots outside the next building. The people involved were evicted, but still... Oh yeah, I just remembered as I was filling out the questionairre, when my (ancient) refrigerator started spitting water all over the floor, they claimed it was because I had too much food in it. It took several weeks of getting my socks wet every time I walked into the kitchen before I finally told them that if they wanted me to pay the next month's rent, they had to do something about the refrigerator. I got a new one the next day.
