i will be new to Bent Tree, and, as a single woman, i am VERY concerned with crime in this complex! please let me know if you think i would be safe from any sort of break-in(to my apt or my car). it scares me to think someone would just break into my apartment like that! i have heard many bad things about Antioch and crime. i am on a limited income so can not afford to pay the $10 extra per month for the alarm. will this be bad for me and make me an easy target for crooks' please tell me if you think i will be safe here. thanks

I've lived here for a year. I did have a break in to my apartment shortly after I moved in (in building 11), but I believe that was partially due to the fact that there is not a light on the backside of this building, so it made it easier for the burglar to hide. Even after that incident, I still feel safe in the complex. I am a single mom, so safety is extremely important to me. With that said, I think that it doesn't matter where you live, you will always be at risk for break-ins. That's just the nature of things in this world unfortunately. I called the police department before I moved in and this complex has the lowest call rate in the area. I believe as of 11/06, they had less than 15 incidents in this complex for an entire 12 month period and less than 5 of those were thefts. The staff is very friendly and helpful, and I don't see any reason to move. If it will help you feel better, you can do what I did after the break in and ask for extra locks to be put on your windows. They are very simple and you can remove them easily if you want to open them, but it helps me be at ease a little more with my little one.

I lived in bldg 6 on the 1st floor for 1 year 2005-2006 & I had moved to TN in 2005 it's a nice complex there's some rowdy ones like w/the music but that didn't happen much in my bldg. I spoke in passing to all but everyone pretty much kept to themselves as did I. The units are nice I had a 2 bdr 2 bath very roomy & the unit came w/wash & dryer that was very helpful. The apts are older & not well insulated for the winter my apt stayed cold in the winter felt like the air was on & despite numerous attemps from maintenance it never got better. I loved the area everything is right there for you close by but it's also off Bell Rd (The Strip), that's a very busy street especially in the xmas season when the mall traffic is horrible 1 time it took me 30 min to get onto Bell Rd. Bell Rd is the reason I moved I couldn't take the hectic street any longer. But the complex like others have crime me personally I didn't have any problems. AS TO THE 1ST RESPONSE ON HERE BY THE PROPERTY MANAGER JC COPELAND NO NEED TO THROW STONES STATING DETROIT HAS BAD CRIME AS YOU HAVE SAID ("Many residents do have alarms and do set them off on accident so many of our police calls are false alarms. Antioch is not a terrible place to live (as opposed to Detroit) it does have it's bad areas and if your looking for trouble it will always be there"). I AM VERY OFFENDED TO THIS STATEMENT BEING A DETROIT NATIVE & NOW LIVING IN TN & IF I REMEMBER YOUR FROM A CITY NOT TOO FAR FROM DETROIT YOURSELF. SO LETS STICK TO THE CORRECT INFO ANTIOCH TN CRIME NOT DETROIT B/C IT'S COMPARING APPLES & ORANGES BY IT BEING 2 DIFFERENT STATES GET IT RIGHT!
