Horrible experience!!!

Years at this apartment: 2006 - 2006
My parents have been ignored since they moved in 2 weeks ago. We went to see the model apartment the 1st week of October and dedcided that it would be great for a short term. (They sold their home quickly, and it will be 9-12 months before new house is ready.) The managment seemed to be nice and helpful, so they put down their deposit and began the process. Over the next 2-3 weeks, my dad would pop over to see their "actual" apartment, but was repeatedly told that it wasn't ready b/c they were cleaning and painting the place just for them, so in good faith we closed on their house and called the movers. The manager said we had to do a walk thru before she could give us keys....as we were walking in she stated that it has an odor b/c they think there is a dead mouse in the wall'''' I thought they had been working on this place for 2 weeks, but whatever...we get inside to the filthiest conditions ever...the carpet still had food ground into it, stains, cigarette burns, and multiple bumps and patched areas that are hazardous to walk on b/c they will trip you...the blinds/light fixtures/baseboards had not been dusted in years, the burners on the stove were corroded, all of the cabinets had "funk" on them (leftover food, soda, dirt, grime....half of the electrical sockets didn't work and to top it all off there was still someone else's hair on the bathroom floor. I asked the manager if it had been cleaned, and she said "Oh, yes!!!" Anyway, what could we do, all of the stuff had been transferred and the movers were 5 minutes behind us..well, to make a long story short, my 70 year old mother has fallen 2 times and has cleaned every day since movning in (it's not even that big). We have learned that 8 people were living in the apartment before and that when the door was open or the windows cracked the odor would seep out. All of the neighbors feel very sorry for my parents as do I. We have tried in vain to get someone to do something. After all, my mom and myself cleaned it up, but what they need to do is put in a new carpet and new pad, but they seem to feel that they have done all they can do...which is basically nothing. They did fix the electrical sockets, so at least they can use plug ins for the nasty smell, and they sent someone out to clean the carpet, but even he said it was useless b/c it is falling apart. We will see what this week holds. I guess I will be at Makowsky, Ringel, and Greenberg myself along with my friend that manages one of our local TV stations. Maybe then they can figure out to what is right.
