Lived here for a year!

Years at this apartment: 2008 - 2009
I'm a female college student that lived in a three bedroom apartment with two roommates for a year. There were some things I loved about living there but some not so much. I never had any trouble with the staff, but then again I never really had to call them about anything. I can only think of one time I could not get a parking spot within a reasonable distance from my apartment and that was because one of our neighbors were having a party. The ONLY problems I had with the parking was one of our neighbors got a new car and their old car (which wasn't a junker) sat in one spot for 6 months without a tag while the new one was in the garage and another neighbor often had a HUGE trailor he would back into one spot, several cars and motorcycles. For one bedroom apartments, in my opinion, several cars and motorcycles shouldn't be allowed. This would have just opened more convienient spaces when coming from the grocery store. We lived on the bottom floor and there was a pretty big problem with noise from the people upstairs. At sometimes I thought they were arranging furniture at 3AM! In the guest bathroom you could hear every word the people upstairs were saying! The stairs to their apartment also ran above my bedroom and you can hear them going up them. And while I'm on the noise issue... even though the complex looks like it is back off the highway, the noise from the interstate is unbelievable! It took a while to get used to it. The review on the people sitting out and drinking all the time is true! The people across the street from us were out all hours of the day with about 5 kids and plenty of booze, but they always kept to themselves and were very kind when my roommate locked herself out! There is always kids running around on skate boards and bicycles ramping the curbs in the parking lot dangerously close to pretty expensive cars! I agree the gate does not keep anyone out! But I was told upfront when I moved in it was a CONTROLLED ACCESS gate NOT a security gate.. The fence around the front of the property does not even go all the way around the property. The gate was also broke numerous times because residents are always trying to see how many cars can go through before the gate closes. The gate is left open in the mornings and afternoons for the school buses. Reguardless, I never felt unsafe at Legends and I stayed many nights alone there. There was a couple weeks where the police were called a couple times a week due to a domestic violence problem, but that was the only reason I ever heard for police to be there. There is only one pool and one garbage dumpster. I rarely went to the pool but when I did there was never a lounge chair available. Go in the mornings and late afternoons if you don't want to be there with 30 other people. I preferred having the garbage dump at the front of the complex! I say better there than having to smell a dump everytime you come out of your apartment! There was something wrong with the plumbing in our apartment because the bathtubs and sinks were constantly stopping up. We never called anyone to fix it, just bought Liquid Plumber. My BIGGEST complaint and really the only one I could not look past was the fact that residents let HUGE dogs crap on the sidewalk and not pick it up. During the winter, I was CONSTANTLY watching where I was stepping because there was dog poop EVERYWHERE! Mangement sent reminders out that residents were supposed to pick it up but the problem continued so they supposedly began fining people $50 if they were caught leaving dog poop on the ground. I'm not going to say I picked mine up everytime but when huge dogs are crapping on the sidewalk and it stays there for days, that's just a little much for me! I only had to call maintainence a couple of times to fix things. When we moved into the apartment there were fleas but they sprayed immediately. The electricity is very efficient here! The most we paid for a 3 bedroom was $120 and the lowest being $55 (average about $70). Overall, I do believe this is probably the best apartment complex to live in Bartlett, but I do think they are a little overpriced. If you get a move-in special, I say go with it!
