Years at this apartment: 2006 - 2007

I've moved in in June. The first things I noticed were Extremeily OLD appliances. When we were showed the apartment, ( the one the leasing agent takes you to look at), it looked nice in appearance but the old appliances shocked me. I asked the leasing agent if they updated appliances frequently and she said yes they do as needed. I took that as a yes. When we moved in the appliances were the same as the aprtment they showed us the very first day OLD. My parents stayed in their hospitality sweet and I had the chance to go in it and look. It looks brand NEW. All the Appliances were BRAND NEW, I was so mad and wanted to complain. Of course they are going to be brand new just because they want people to think it is a nice place to live.
The building are completely dirty. The paint is Sub par cracked and peeling EVERYWHERE. They frequently repaint the front building when you come into the landings so it looks nice and fresh and well kept, but as you go further into the landings all the building looks 20 years old and the paint really shows it. They recently painted our building and I got a look at the boarding under the painted wood.. you can tell it had been termite infested.
Spiders are a definite problem. During this summer we had a huge spider hanging right in front of our door and another right by our light. I was Afraid to walk out of my apartment because of them. I hate spiders. When they spray they don't spray the entire apartment like you may think. my wife was home when they came and sprayed all he did was spray around fron door on the outside then o the inside, then went to the inside of our sliding door to the patio sprayed around it said have a good day and walked out. THAT WAS ALL HE SPRAYED!!!
The weather stripping on the doors is old at best I can see light through the crackes in our door. Even to our bedroom. The cracks are so big that a spider , roach or even an army of ants can walts right in. my front door WE have to put one foot on the wall and pull it when we leave to lock it it's that hard. Plus it doesn't even latch unless it's locked.
Our bathroom sink leaked BADLY!!! It would pour water out onto the baseboards. I called maintenance and it took them 3 days to respond. They so called repaired it and guess what it is leaking again. Repaired to me is not leaking ever again. The drains get plugged all the time, The Bathtub is curved all the way around...there is not flat surface to stand on and you slip ALOT. Not to mention the heavy amount of mold around the walls to the bathtub.
We recently called about a huge lint buildup behind our dryer, again it took them a while to respond and whent hey did they did nothing at all and on the service sheet wrote Huge build up of lint behind dryer use your vacume. Plus the spring tensioners on our washer are bad. When it start to hit the final spin the drum on the inside of the washer just bangs against the wall with enough force it walks the entire unit out of the corner and up against the door to the bathroom so we can't get in without having to seriously push on the door to move the dryer back into place.
The heating and Air sucks. Some parts of the house are extremily hot and others cold. When the heat or air come on it is followed by a LOUD bang from the unit. Our Ac ran ALL summer non stop and it still felt like a sonna in here. They apartment cannot stay climate controlled. We had to buy a fan to keep us cool at night and a heated blanket to keep us warm in the winter.
When I first opened the flu to my fire place about a pound of ash fell out into the fireplace. I was concerned about it being a fire hazard and called the landings to schedule a fire place cleaning. They said they didn't do that and were looking to hire an outside contactor. They never did. When I called back they told me it shouldn't be a problem because they were tripple walled and that was that.
Lighting in the parking area was Dismal. The light outside our building flickered badly you could barely see light coming from it at all. They just recently put ALL brand new lights inthe parking lot.
The noise is bad as well. People have extremily loud trucks in the partment, People play their Music at FULL Volume at 2:30AM in the morning. IF you do call a courtesy officer.. you just get a voicemail and nothing happens or if your lucky enough to get a response and goes out to investigate, there not real cops they are rent a cops and the people just turn it up again after they leave. If you do have to file a noise complaint I recomend calling the Franklin PD because they respoind within 3 minutes and if the person turns the volume back up and they get called out again they arrest the person. I recomend getting a polic report because when I called management the next day they asked me if we had a complaint about that apartment before and I said yes and she said well we'll talk to our courtesy officer and see if a police report was filed. I said i couldn't get a hold of the courtesy officer and had to call frankolin PD. She said she would let the property manager know about the situation. The guy still lives in that apartment, and we can still hear his music through our walls. We had to move our entire bedroom around just to get sleep at night and away from the noise, we also have to have a fan running, and humidifer and our own radio playing just to drown out the thumping of his stereo.
The trash part sucks period. You have to drive your trash to the compactor, and it's located at the entrance to the landings. In the summer months when the heat is unbearable and the trash builds up it STINKS. I feel sorry for the people that have to live next to it. They also just put up a bunch of trees by the compactor so now you can't see any oncoming traffic so you have to stick your nose out and look before you pull out, If your lucky enough to not get hit. I've almost been hit many times leaving the complex from someone pulling out of the trash area because they couldn't see.
Before you move I recomend taking a video camera of your aprtment before you move anything out of it and as the last piece of furniture is being moved out. Take a video of the entire empty apartment, and then after you clean it. Also Ask to be at the final walk through otherwise they will take your money. If any discrepancies occur submit the videos and say you'll hire a lawyer...even video tape the final walkthrough wiith the agent.
