Two weeks ago I had a home invasion in the middle of the night. The individual came in through a window while me and my wife were in the bedroom and my kids were upstairs. This individual was apparently watching us from our bedroom door and has been seen peeping in our windows and exiting our apartment while we were not home. Because of this individuals willingness to now come into my home while my family was there and me and my wife were awake, we asked the Courts for our families safety to please let us out of our lease one month early. My wife fears the next step for this criminal could be rape or something even worse. I now have to escort her too and from her car and walk through the house all hours of the night to ensure everythings ok. Also, my wife refuses to stay at home alone and now hangs out at neighbors homes until I arrive. Who would want to live under these conditions' So I turned in a notice with my last June payment and to my amazement after almost seven and a half years they decline to allow us to terminate the lease one month early. In addition management then blammed me for this individual coming into my house because I had a window open on a cool night.Apparently a open window at the courts is an open invitation to anyone walking by to come on in. At the time of the incident I ask the management if any criminal activity has taken place recently and was told no. I have investigated the crime stats in this neiborhood and since Jan. 06 there have been atleast 25 incidents. None of this has been communicated to the other residents at the Courts. I was told after the last incident at my home that this would be communicated with other residents. That never happened. The management at the Courts does not care how much at risk you or the ones you care about are in. Be cautious when moving here things have really changed for the worse.

I could be wrong, but I think they need a police report or contact from the police to send out a notice, but thank you for the heads up. I personally like living here and hope everything works out for you.

Yes, the police were contact at the time of the incident, and arrive about twenty minutes later. The next morning after getting no sleep I went into work late so I could advise the office staff of the incident. I was concerned and wanted them to be aware of the situation. I felt that you and the other residents needed to know.

1/4 of mile radius is not on the property, and why would the residents be notified if it wasn't on the property? Crime doesn't have an address, you are right. So this could happen anywhere any of us live! So, why blame the Courts?

I think you should have been released from your lease. Until someone has a home invasion they will never understand the feeling of you and your family being preyed upon. I have experienced this and have great sympathy for you and your family. I live at the courts and I am upset with the current mgmt for various reasons and they seem to relish in positive comments but do nothing for constructive comments but talk smart and say you are the only one complaining. I am seriously thinking about moving b/c we can no longer rent the clubhouse plus various other reasons, like apathetic attitudes from property mger, I have never lived anywhere where the residents paid for a clubhouse they cannot use and where owners are allowed to not clean up dog mess, and the infrastructure has serious problems that get taken care of b/c they causes problems they cannot ignore, not just b/c it is hazardous and needs to be fixed. There have been some improvements but overall I am wanting to move....I just am having a hard time finding the rgt time....financially.....Try waterford place or Hamilton Pointe apts in E. Brainerd....

It's funny how people are happy until they don't get what they want!
