We have lived here for three years, and are moving out only because we are moving to another state. When we came, we thought it would be only 6 months, get to know the area, find a place we really liked to rent or buy. Well, things were OK here and we ended up staying.

The reviewers who complained about noise - it probably depends on which side of which building you are in. There are a fair number of noisy folks, though most of the noise comes from the parking lot, where people do drive up and honk for the person they are meeting. (Rude, I know.) The ice cream truck makes frequent rounds in summer with its 20-second loop song. And yes, there are pet owners who let their dogs roam off-leash in the parking lot, which I don't like. The dogs bark and get all dogs in the building riled up. But, that is likely to be the case with any place that allows pets as some residents will be responsible and some will not. (There is officially a 20 lb size limit, which many dogs I've seen definitely don't meet.)Currently they are replacing the bathtubs and flooring in all apartments, so there are construction workers around and one parking lot has half taken over with construction storage. But, that is not typical.

The pool is OK, I don't use it much so can't comment extensively. Have never used the tennis courts - just not interested. The workout room is basically a closet with a treadmill, so if you really want to exercise often on equipment you should probably skip it and get a gym membership. If you have kids, the playground is pathetic - they recently replaced the swings with a tiny slide that no one over 3 will fit on. So, plan to walk down to Red Bank Elementary for a playground.

Across Mtn Creek Rd is the Spring Valley neighborhood, which is a nice place to walk or jog. Farther up the road is a golf course with lots of trails for walking or jogging.

In terms of the apartment itself, it is so-so, probably nicer than most that I have lived in. We have the larger 2BR and it is huge, 1200 sf or so. The size is a definite plus. Yes, they are old buildings so understand, they aren't new and spiffy. Our appliances were replaced about 2 years ago (good thing as old dishwasher turned on whenever it was opened!) and our bathtubs and bathroom flooring are scheduled for replacement this summer. The carpet is, ugh, not something I can be positive about, but the rest is OK. The bedroom windows are tiny, which is a definite drawback if you like light. There are no light fixtures in the living room, so get yourself lots of lamps. If you live on the side facing the trees, I have been told your apartment feels like a cave. The advantage is that you won't hear much parking lot noise.

The staff here are super-nice. Carol is actually the reason we took the place - super helpful, answered all our questions, took care of details over the phone/fax as it was a long-distance move. They have always responded to maintenance requests and questions promptly, have called us when we had packages over the holidays to make sure we didn't miss them, etc.

Overall, I would recommend this to most people.

They also have a website, tgmfontainwoods.com which for some reason I have never found on google. You can find pictures there.
