I hated it!

Years at this apartment: 2004 - 2005
I lived in the Ridgemont for a year from 2004-2005. My roommate and I had problems from the very first day when we opened our front door and found 3 huge dead roaches. (They had come to spray the day before). Some of our major problems included:
-Noise. We were on the bottom floor (I now know better!) and the stairs were very loud, especially outside of my room mate's bedroom. We could hear everything out upper neighbors did (including using the restroom, showering, walking, watching tv, anything!) we became friends with them quickly!
-Bugs. I have never before in my life or never after seen so many huge roaches. I can handle most things, but those terrified me! I remember waking up one night and I saw a huge roach run across my bedroom wall into a shadow. I got up but never found it. We kept a can of roach spray in every room of the apartment, along with numerous traps. They kept us on the list to spray every week or two, but it never really got better. There were ants too, but i can handle those.
-Maintenance. The maintenance men were incredibly nice! Sadly enough though, they knew us by name and never went a week without coming by our apartment. We had our laundry room door fall off on someone and misc. bathroom problems which were minor. However the large problems included the apartment next to ours had washer problems and flooded (also flooding my closet, bathroom, and part of my bedroom.) On Thanksgiving some pipes burst above our kitchen, completely flooding it. I came home to water pouring in through the the florescent fixture. (It took 4 days of me calling constantly for anyone to even come look at it.) Also, there were problems with the buildings siding, so anytime it rained, water poured in our dining room window. We had to keep the window ledge full of bowels to collect the water. This caused mold problems on the wall and under the carpet, water damage, etc. They always attempted to fix it, but eventually told us that the entire exterior of the building needed to be redone. We asked to be moved to another apartment, and the only option they gave us was to move to a more expensive apartment (paying the extra) and they would charge us a several hundred dollar moving fee.
The management at that time got fired due to resident complaints such as ours. I don't know if the new management ever really got better or not. I work in a restaurant and have waited on the maintenance manager countless times over the last few years, and last time i talked to him he said it was still pretty bad.
I wish anyone better luck than me, I do have a friend who has lived there for years without huge issues like mine. But i would still stay away, you could find a much better place to live!
