Very good for apt living but there are some negatives

I'm going on my 2nd year living here & I love my garage & own entry & I'm upstairs so I do not hear any noise from my neighbors. Now I have heard from people who live on the ground level that it is quite annoying - that you can hear everything the people upstairs do. The rooms are very big & for an apt the carpet is great. However, the paint on the walls is the cheapest crap ever & you can tell they very quickly constructed these apts because my kithen floor is sagging, I have several cracks in my walls, the nails are pushing back out of the sheetrock so you see little circles all over the place, our bathtub has a LOT of cracks in it & a neighbor of mine who works in construction said it must have rained alot when they were building which got the insulation wet in the roof because all the upstairs units have silverfish bugs that never go away despite the pest control efforts. They also have very cheaply constructed the units too - cheap sinks in the bathrooms & kitchen, cheap cabinets, stove is basic no bells & whistles - stuff like that. The only other negative I have, is that I have asked them 4 times in over a year time to fix my door because it is not centered in the frame & therefore the cold air blows right in during winter which does make it hard to keep the living room warm - well my requests go undone each time & each time I call I get told "I wrote up the work order, perhaps he couldn't do anything to fix it". I have heard from several of my neighbors that they have the same problem with their door & their requests to fix it go undone as well. A neighbor who is on ethe ground level kept having the living room flood with water whenever it rained significantly & he talked to the office several times - he finally fixed it himself. As far as apt living goes, these are the best apts I have ever lived in, the utility bills are very reasonable, the size of the unit is great, & having your own entry is really great - eliminates noise from stairwells & hallways to get to your own doorway. There are a lot of people who have their garages full of stuff so the only place to park if your driveway is not big, is the street so some areas it gets congested but I wouldn't say it's a problem at all. When the second stage of the bldgs were going up it was loud around here & I had to get a nail removed from my tire twice but that's all complete now. It would have been nice if they would have built a second pool for the new side of the complex because the pool was very busy this summer. It would also be nice if there was a playground or a basketball court or something for the kids. There are some new "younger 20 something" people living here now so they tend to drive a bit too fast through the complex & there were a few times that several of us complained about their pool behavior & heavy drinking which the manager Tracy Rhea quickly ended! Overall, if I ever had to move away from Memphis, I would hope I could find a complex like this because you feel like you are in a condo or townhouse not an apt. Oh yeah, one of the other people writing a review said the alarms are free - they are free if you want them to only go off without calling the cops - if you wants the cops called then they cost you; but I have never felt unsafe here.
