It's OK - but not worth the price

I've lived here for almost 2 years, and am living because of the price. After my first year, I needed to extend my lease for six months (was looking to buy a house at the time). Well, the price jumped $75 per month. After 6 months expired, I needed to extend it again for 3 more months (the house I was building wouldn't be finished on time). They were happy to extend my lease, if I was willing to pay another $75 per month.
I have NEVER lived in a place where they JACK UP the price so much - it almost appears that they don't want to RETAIN their customers. As for maintenance, I had a serious ANT problem summer (2005) and when I called about it (at 9:00pm one rainy evening), they said there was nothing they could do - so, I had to wake my toddler, dress him up, and drag him to the store in the pouring rain to buy some ANT spray to kill the LITERALLY hundreds of ANT inside my apartment. Then this fall/winter, I had a wasp/hornet problem in my chimney. Fortunately I had already covered the fireplace with clear plastic (to prevent drafts), but they did NOTHING about it. I ended up killing about 4 dozen of them. Another problem was with the AirConditioner in the middle of the SUMMER. Fortunately that was repaired after calling and visiting the management team four times and it was repaired in less than a day.
Some other problems that were stated upon move-in but never fixed include, poor windows (leaking air/drafty), drafty door, and broken shelves with nails protruding outward. Lastly, I have had 3 occasions when a PLUMBER was needed because the sink backed up. One time, the bathroom sink backed up too with garbage from someone's food disposal. These backups are obviously unexpected - but shouldn't they fix the problem after the first time'
