I have been living in Country Squire since 2005. I spent my first year in a one bedroom apartment - not too much to complain about. The problems really started when my boyfriend & I decided to move in together & we needed a bigger space. We thought the best & cheapest way to do it was to move ACROSS the street to the townhouse side (SAME complex just to the townhouse side). We forked out over $1200 to move to another apartment - WALKING distance away!! THANK GOD we requested a move-in inspection of the new place - I literally burst into tears when we saw this townhouse that they CALLED THEMSELVES cleaning up & acceptable for us to move into!! The carpet was atrocious!! Bleach stains & paint splatter all through the place - and a suspicious red stain in the bedroom carpet (still dont know what that was - but when I got out my $100 Walmart steam vac it came right up - so that proved that the carpets had NOT been steamed cleaned!!) - bubbling ceilings - cracking walls - the upstairs shower leaks thru the ceiling & the downstairs ceiling looked like it was about to fall through - rotted wood at the entry door that left a hole you could stick your hand through - wallpaper ripped & torn - EVERY window in the place & the double sliding glass doors had white condensation buildup in them & you couldnt even see through them - the patio door didnt close or lock all the way - the paint job looks like it was done by toddlers - paint running down the walls & it was just left to dry - the lenolium tiling in the kitchen & bathrooms looked like it was the original put in & it was crooked & peeling up!! I could seriously keep going!!
We immediately called the maintenance manager & the leasing manager to the townhouse & I went off - telling them how insulted I was that they expected us to live there and pay such high rent!! Everyone expects there to be minor probs in all apartments but this was rediculous!! The only things that they agreed to fix was the windows & patio door & the floors. Since we have been living there they did some "remodeling" to the outside of the building - which does look good - HOWEVER, in the process of this the construction workers beat out the framing on all of the windows - since the cold weather has hit its been crazy trying to keep things warm! When we called in for maintenance they said "Yeahhhh, alot of people have been compaining about that...." The current probs that we have are: the mold that continues to grow in the bathroom ceiling, the leaking sink, the dryer that takes two hours to dry a regular size load of clothes. Another serious problem is that the air ducts have OBVIOUSLY never been cleaned out - I have become very sick since we have been living here - I recently had to go to the doctor because I have been very sick with allergies - the allergy attacks have become so frequent & severe that I spend most weekends bedridden - the allergy tests revealed that I have an extreme allergy to DUST!! I am a clean FREAK but you just cant get control of the dust!
NOW the biggest thing is my boyfriend's job is transferring us out of town & when his work contacted the property to see how much it would cost they told them $1200!! They are supposed to waive the early termination fees if you are being transfered!! But not Fogelman - what a b-s company!! THEN we go to turn in our "written notice" that we are moving out (in PLENTY of time) - but since we didnt turn it in on the 1st-5th of the month - we have to pay the FULL MONTHS RENT for the month that we will already be MOVED & living in another STATE!!!
This place is a disgrace & I will NEVER rent a FOGELMAN PROPERTY again!!

Yeah, I can't freakin' wait to get out of here. I think that when you call maint, they figure out what month they're in, add 6-8 weeks for delivery, then add on the 2 weeks it may take to fix. And that's just when the florescent light burns out. I can't wait to get out of here. Our lease is up in April, so I'd better go ahead and give them my notice. If they use the same time frame as the maint, then it MIGHT just get to them in time. I honestly think there is one maint. guy for the whole complex, and he works 2 hours a day, 3 days a week.

UPDATE:THE HELL CONTINUES EVEN AFTER YOU MOVE OUT!!:: WE MOVED OUT FEB 14! I DID A WALK THRU INSPECTION WITH THE MAINTENANCE MANAGER & TURNED IN ALL OF OUR THINGS AT THE OFFICE. WE WERE TOLD THAT WE WOULD BE RECEIVING $400 OF OUR $500 DEPOSIT - THEY AUTOMATICALLY KEEP $100 OF IT FOR SOME REASON.... WE JUST RECEIVED A LETTER FROM THEM SAYING THAT WE OWE (YES OWE) $375 IN TEN DAYS OR WE WILL BE SENT TO COLLECTIONS!! THEY SAY ITS A "CONCESSION" FOR THE TEN MONTHS WE LIVED THERE - THEY TAKE THE PRICE BACK UP TO MARKET RATE & CHARGE YOU FOR EACH MONTH YOU'VE STAYED THERE!! NOONE TOLD US THAT ONE TIME THAT WE OR MY BOYFRIENDS EMPLOYER SPOKE WITH THEM TO SEE WHAT WAS DUE TO GET OUT OF THE LEASE!! WE ARE OUTRAGED ONCE AGAIN AT FOGELMAN PROPERTIES!! WE COULD HAVE MOVED OUT OF THIS PLACE & PAID FOR AN EMPTY APARTMENT FOR THE NEXT TWO MONTHS - INSTEAD OF SHELLING OUT $1200 TO MOVE OUT - $750 IN CONCESSIONS & THE WHOLE MONTHS RENT FOR FEBRUARY!!!!!! I GUARANTEE YOU THAT SOMEONE IS LIVING IN THAT APARTMENT RIGHT NOW, TOO! THEY GOT RENT FROM US & NEW TENANTS FOR FEB!

I have become sick as a result of living in these apartments too. The mold is awful. Our tub had hair in it from a previous tenant. No lie.
