I have lived in several apartments across Memphis, including east memphis and on Mud Island, and I have to say that the Reserve has been the best. The apartment buildings are very spread out and parking was ample for the residents. I am a single woman, and I never felt scared to go out to my car at night because of the gated community. The gates do take a while to open and close, so many times cars tailgate other cars in, but that is to be expected. At times I could hear my neighbors talking or playing loud music when my apartment was really quiet, but hey, remember this is an apartment and not a private home in the country. I've experienced this in every apartment I've lived in and have grown to accept it. The staff have always been very kind and helpful. The exercise and laundry facilities were always clean. An added bonus is that they have 2 tanning beds you can use for free My one complaint would be that they don't keep up with who gets the key, so I think a lot of people brought their friends to tan (you're supposed to leave your 'activity pass' in order to get a key, but they didn't pay much attention.) They keep a security guard at the pool at all times, and they check to make sure everyone coming in has an 'activity pass' so the pool isn't bombarded with people who come in from the street. They have cookouts and socials throughout the year which makes this huge apartment complex feel more like a community (this complex has 700 units). The lake and beautiful landscaping are great, and for an apartment there is so much to do like fishing, paddle boating, tennis and walking on the trails around the lake. It is so convenient to shopping, restaurants, and the interstate. There are two trash recepticles on close to both exits, and they tend to spill over at times, expecially at the end of the weekend. The apartment layout is great - big rooms and tall ceilings. Many of the one bedroom apartments have huge bathrooms with jacuzzi tubs. The maintenace staff usually responds to a complaint the very same day, or the next day at the latest. Residents must call the front office to request pest control to come and spray, and you can request it every week if you'd like. Visit this apartment for yourself. Don't believe all these comments you read on this site - most people had one bad day or one bad experience with the staff and they use it as an excuse to dog out the apartment and staff.
