I just thought I would update my review of South Wind apartments since they have now turned the debt they claim I owe them over to a collection agency. In fact, one of the reasons I was initially upset with this community staff is because the very first contact they made with me over my being charged to replace the carpet in my apartment threatened to turn the bill over to a collection agency if not paid by July 5, 2008. How's that for customer service' Can you imagine getting a cable bill that told you if you were a day late it would be turned over to collections' I attempted to contact South Wind recently about their actions and they have not responded. I spelled out exactly what actions I would take if they failed to respond. This is the first step of my personal war with these people.
For those of you thinking of moving in, be advised that they supply doggie waste bags to pick up after pets. Apparently I was one of the few that used them. I can't tell you how many times I stepped in someone's dog's solid waste while walking my miniture schnauzer late at night. The grounds crew rarely got rid of the waste that was picked up, and never cleaned up the waste that was left to decompose on the ground. If you have kids, I would say there is a good chance they will come in with dog waste all over them on several occasions.
The pond was constantly covered by algae, stagnant, and a breeding ground for mosquitos. I never once saw anything done to clean it up in the two years I resided at South Wind. Often I would see trash floating in the pond also. Disgusting!
I was told when I moved in that all pets must be on leashes when on the grounds. I never once saw this enforced. On several occasions my dog, which is ten yours old now and not willing to play, got harassed by young dogs running loose. There were cats roaming around the grounds also, and on one occasion one of them tried to attack my dog. I love animals, but they should be controlled, especially of the community rules mandate it.
I would highly recommend against anyone moving in to South Wind. If you haven't read my previous review it is entitled "Worst place I've ever lived". Check it out---there is more to come. Oh by the way, my first review got a response from the manager at South Wind. I thought there was a box you had to check to verify that you are not an employee or contractor for this or any other property. I guess she ignored that box.

sounds like you should have anomosity towards your ex-roomate, not the staff at SW. Also, SW did not ask you to pay $150 for someone to clean your apartment; have you asked this cleaning woman if she used bleach and spilled it? I have had nothing but, as you state, personable and fair responses from this staff. They are the kind that you want to come back to if you ever need to rent again.

sounds like you are one of the staff at SW since you are saying exactly what the woman in the office said. Also you're ignoring several of the points in my post such as charging me for things that I attempted to report. By the way, I did of course speak to the girl who cleaned and she assured me that she didn't even use any bleach products cleaning the apartment. And since I have known her since she was 15 years old, I certainly trust her more than the staff.
And since the staff deems it necessary to respond to my scathing review I will go ahead and add something I didn't include previously. South Wind will raise your rent at the beginning of EVERY lease, no matter the length. I was attempting to buy a house and ran into snags a couple of times. Since I didn't want to commit to a year lease I signed a 4 month lease so I could move out quickly if need be. The result: My rent went up twice in 4 months... rising from 879 to 924 a month. I'm sure that was REAL necessary.
Oh and by the way... I did have ANIMOSITY towards my ex-ROOMMATE. If you are a staff member maybe you should learn to spell.

I can vouch for the fact that Southwind is extremely crooked in their dealings with tenants period. When I lived at Southwind, the place was like a government housing project. And yes, I had heard from my neighbors upon moving out that they would stick you with charges so they don't have to absorb the cost of recarpeting, etc. which is what they ARE responsible for! Renter beware!! The staff was horrible when I lived there and it sounds like they are still up to their old tricks. Ast for the most recent 4-5 'wonderful' reviews ~ they are written by staff. Prospective renters STAY AWAY. I still have a friend that lives at SouthWind and is very disappointed in the way her rent increases every time and the fact that their so called 'after hours' number to call is a fluke. No one to answer, all the while her airconditioning was out during a hot summer!! STAY AWAY!!!!
