The Colonnade apartments are very nice and yes, I would recommend them as long as you do a few things before moving in. I am not sure where you are from, but in Memphis it is very hot in the summer. Our AC was not working when we moved in (in the middle of summer). It would blow small amounts of cool air, but the apartment would never get below 85 degrees. I asked the maintenance folks to come out and they did but the problem was never resolved. I began calling every other day and they would show up, play with it for awhile, then say well that should fix it then leave. It was not fixed, they just could not fix the problem, but I was angry because everytime they left they would say, oh that should take care of it, then I would be up all night not able to sleep because it was so hot. I finally had to physically go to the office and throw a few fits (3-4) before they sent a real AC person out to check the system. He found that the ducts that the air flowed through to get to the vents were not connected and we were losing all of our air. He fixed it and it has worked fine ever since.

I really do like living there. They are large apartments and a nice quiet setting with lots of grass.

This brings me to my point of a few things that you must do before moving in:

1) Make sure that the office knows exactly when you plan to arrive to start moving in, and make them write on paper that the apartment will be ready. (See post on apartmentguide.com as to what happened to us)

2) Make sure that you take a walkthrough with one of the managers/leasing agents before you sign the papers, we had a wall with a huge piece not painted and it took almost 2 months to get it painted. Also all of our outlet covers were not put on.

3) Make sure that the AC and Heat work before you move in. This could lead to long nights and pain if not.

Honestly the apartments have been great, now that we have all the problems worked out. All the neighbors have been friendly, no one is loud in my building atleast, no crime, and again the apartments are huge.

I hope you do not let my problems defer you from moving to the Colonnade, Everything is great now we have the problems repaired.

If you have questions, and do not want to talk to the leasing office, i will gladly answer them:

I totally disagree with that. I have received excellent service from maintenance, even on my air conditioning. I suppose you are a complainer.

That was a really useful review, thank you! I don't think you sound like a complainer. I have had similar issues at my former apt complex, which was a great place to live. I appreciate the warning - I'll definitely do a walk through if I choose these apts.

The previous respondent is probably just a person who likes to throw around insults when someone doesn't agree with him/her.

You are a great reviewer. This is the most rational, honest and useful review I have ever read on apartmentratings.com

I found your review very helpful. I didn't see it as complaining but expecting to receive what you pay for. Being cool and have the cosmetics finished do not seem unreasonable at all. After all, they expect your rent to be paid on time.
