Swarming With Giant ---- Roaches

This is a very nice apartment community except for the fact that the apartments are swarming with the biggest roaches you ever want to see in your life. I was so terrified of these huge, flying/gliding, hard to kill cockroaches (also called palmetto bugs) that I wouldn't stay home alone in this place. They sprayed multiple times but it didn't help. I drove around the community and asked some neighbors if they were having the same problems; they reluctantly admitted that they were. Some didn't see it as a big enough reason to move. Some said that they just keep plenty of bug spray handy. Bugs are a deal breaker for me. I had asked the leasing agent about bugs prior to moving in & I told her that I had a phobia of bugs. Since she lied about the problem, I called an attorney and was willing to do anything to get out of the lease. The management company's attorneys insturcted them to let me out of the lease. They promptly returned my deposit and I spent the Christmas holiday moving out of an apartment that I'd just moved into a month earlier.
To sum it all up- this is a great place if you can deal with the critters. The floorplan, noise level, staff, parking, and safety were all great.

The previous apartment manager was very good at telling lies and with the straightess face you ever saw. However,
you knew she was lying because she would NEVER look you in the face. Not only do I have to deal with roaches, but rolly-pollies and some type of little worm. Yes, I said, "Worm"!!! The rent is excessive and I do not see how they can justify the rent they charge. There is no grass in the complex, just wood chips, shrubs (so many need to be cut down and replaced), and the only flowers are at the entrance and in front of the office. The patio fences are rotten, infected with termites and need to be replaced. For the rent they charge, you would expect the grounds to be in better shape. Plus, the tub in the upstairs bathroom is peeling. The windows and patio doors neede to be insulated as the wind pours in which increases the utility bill. Some of the cabinet doors in the kitchen do not shut completely and I was told by the former manager they couldn't be fixed. There are other problems, but I won't list them all. I would not recommend this complex unless you have a lot of money and don't care if your rent is increased every year. Last year it was increased $25.00 and this year $45.00. These townhouses are over 30 years old and you can ride around the complex and tell that very little has been done. Wood around the doors are warped and pulled away from the frame, handrails loose, and looking at torn up blinds in other units are an eyesore. I'm looking for another place to live.
