The apartments themselves are nice. I always liked the floorplan and the finishes. The grounds are well maintained too. Some people complain about water bills, but if you look at your bill it does show you actual usage...it is separately metered inside each apartment. Rates are kind of high, but that is because of the utility company. Parking was horrible in front of my building. I lived in a building that had only 2 and 3 bedrooms. If you had roommates living in a unit or a family with a bunch of cars, you could never find a place to park. I know one of my neighbors had 4-5 cars.

Maintenance requests were handled timely, although I usually had to call them back at least once if not more, because the "fix" was not good the first time. A few of the girls in the office are really nice, the others can be a royal pain. I think my least favorite to deal with is now theleasing manager. Whenever I renewed my lease it would take at least two weeks to get the paperwork, and when I turned in my notice I hand delivered it to the leasing manager. Two weeks later one of the girls called and asked if I'd be renewing, and I had to explain that they'd already gotten my notice. Once again, when I called two weeks before we moved out regarding move out procedure, I was asked a third time if we'd turned in a notice. So not very with it most of the time.

I know property management sees it all from tenants, but I really believe they should do a little more to keep their long term tenants that pay on time and have been a good neighbor happy. That was our biggest complaint with Monthaven. When I moved in I had a good two years where I didn't mind my neighbors too much. They were loud every once in a while, but its an apartment...you deal. The people that have moved in recently have had a total disregard and lack of respect for neighbors. I am very patient, but complained about noise 4 times in the last 5 months before my lease was up. One other thing...it may have just been my side of the building, but nearly everyone seemed to move in and out after dark and into the wee hours of the morning. Never understood it as it was rude especially when you have metal stair railings and you're banging up the stairs with each load.

Overall, its not a bad place to live if you don't have to deal with the office staff much and your neighbors are decent. I understand that they are starting to renovate units too, but I have no idea to what extent. I should mention that my husband and I left because we were wanting a bigger place. We moved to house.
