Luxury is an overstatement

Years at this apartment: 2006 - 2006
I was excited about moving in, but was quickly disappointed. The model they have is beautiful, and the apartments themselves are beautiful at first glance. I'm constantly tripping on the pits and hills in my floors, obviously well thought out construction on the side of a hill. Apts aren't that old, so they haven't really had time to settle, I'd hate to see when they do.
The paint job was horrible. You can very plainly see the white wall under the streaks of paint, which seem to have been spray painted on with no accuracy at all since its sprayed all over door facings. My bathroom walls are terrible, like someone tossed the bucket of paint on the wall and let it run down, and let it be. The paint seems to be more of a primer than a paint, or an incredibly low quality thin paint that all you need to do is barely touch it and it wipes off revealing the white wall underneath.
Maintenence is a pain, Our door didn't latch shut..all you need is topush and it would open. We watched our maintenence guy come in with a screw driver and jam the door plate a few times leaving numerous nicks and unsightly gouges in the door frame, and left it at that. It was never fixed. Repeated work orders for the same problem anytime there is one. Garbage is overflowing, and you have to lunge your bags of garbage to the top of the heap before anyone will compact it. Kids are allowed to run wild up and down stairs throughout the entire complex.
Gated community is a joke. Even if the gates ARE working which they aren't half the time, all you have to do is walk through the unlocked gate on the side.
The size and layout of the apartments are the only plus, but for almost 1000 bucks a month, it sure isn't worth it. Moved in on a special rate, and they constantly harass saying I owe more than I pay. I have to keep my Contract on hand every month to remind them of our agreement. If there was better management and less corners cut, it might be worth the rent, but as soon as my lease is up, I'm out.
**UPDATE**
Move out time...again, nothing but problems. For the first 6 months of living here they kept telling me I owed thousands when in reality they ended up having to pay me. Now that its time to leave, they're trying to charge more. As stated above, they jerked us around, and we were pretty much homeless for a week because instead of moving in on the 1st, they put us in on the 7th. After living with the horrible paint job, terrible sound muffling (I warn you....they will convince you of the 3 inches of concrete, but it may as well be tissue), horrible parking, the "gated" community who's gate hasn't been closed in months...they snuck in that our exit date is July 7th instead of putting us on June 30th. Well low and behold, if we dn't pay the 200 dollar proration we gotta drop down almost 1800 to break lease....for 1 week!!! They will not work with you, they will not treat you like the loyal customer/tenant that you are. This is the absolute worst experience I have ever had living in an apartment complex. I WARN YOU ALL...STAY AWAY IF YOU KNOW WHAT IS GOOD FOR YOU.
P.S. You know....I'm almost willing to pay the 1800 just to get the heck away from this place....
