Like spiders' Would you like hundreds of cute little poisonous spiders as pets included FREE with your rent'' Then come to Oakwell Farms in Hermitage, TN, where you'll find at least two new Brown Recluse spiders in your apartment every day, or your rent is... still due on the first.
At Oakwell Farms Apartments, you'll also enjoy well lit parking lots that deter vehicle vandalism and theft. Well, except for that one night when you parked in a little dimmer area and your vehicle was torn into and the stereo stolen. The thieves only got 3 that night... but who's counting'
You'll also enjoy a staff that cares about you so much that they'll regularly complete "maintenance" trips to your apartment. Oh, make sure you leave all your information and secrets out in the open, so they don't have to snoop for it, because they will if they have to!!
We love pets at Oakwell Farms. In fact, they are so valuable to us, that we charge you an arm and a leg to keep them here with you. You'll enjoy a $300 non-refundable PER PET deposit, plus $20 extra rent per month, PER PET!
During those hot summer months, you'll enjoy our nice pools to relax and refresh in (thats actually true). However, if you live near the pools, you'll never find a place to park near your apartment. Isn't walking great exercise'!!
On a positive note, it is fairly quiet here at Oakwell Farms, and the property is very, very pretty. Lots of trees. Just make sure you keep a loaded pistol in your nightstand for the drunks and wanderers that will try to beat down your door and get in at 2a.m.
Seriously, its not that great, but it's not the worst. A little over-priced for what you get in my opinion. Buy a house if you can, much better investment!
Happy renting!

I'd say that this review is pretty spot on, aside from the snooping. We haven't had a problem with that. We haven't had a problem with spiders either, but that could be because I have the exterminator here every three to four weeks to spray for the roaches.
Yeah, not poisonous, but still quite creepy when you're stumbling to the bathroom in the middle of the night. Or the middle of the day. Nasty little buggers. My issue with the whole bug problem is that the office staff were very nonchalant about it for the first three months that I reported it. I ended up talking to the property manager, who seemed to take it more seriously and who was very friendly and helpful, until I got upset with the ongoing problem. Once I got impatient and irritated, he got quite the attitude. He pretty much told me that since it wasn't an infestation then I didn't have much to complain about. He also refused to spray any of the apartments adjacent to me for roaches because none of them had reported having roaches. Although it's pretty clear that if I have them, so do the apartments directly next to mine.
My car did get broken into within the first three months that we lived here. And they do charge a non-refundable pet fee along with extra pet rent each month. I also pay a ridiculous electric bill considering that my apt. is only 650 square feet.
However, we've got some friends who live on the newer side (I live on the blue side) and they haven't had insect problems or theivery problems.
It IS beautiful here. Our apartment building is right next to the interstate but the noise isn't that bad.
If I had read reviews about insect problems I probably wouldn't have picked this place, but for the money it's a good value. I think you'd be hard pressed to find another apartment complex this close to Nashville for this price that's this well maintained - even with the roaches. But if you can afford a little more, I'd advise you to look elsewhere.

Nice stock picture of a spider that wasn't taken at this property.

I do find spider bites on my person quite often and there was once a girl that came screaming out of her apartment yelling about brown recluses when I first moved here. I have also had a strange man beat down my door in the middle of the night. I very promptly complained to the people in charge, my complaint was dismissed. We have a cop at the apartments but if you're in trouble, all you have is his beeper. Who has a beeper these days? He never responded to our beep/call(?) anyways. I've also never seen him once in 8 months.
The electric bill is the same amount I paid for while residing in a 3 bedroom house and since my apartment here is a measly 650 square feet I don't know how that is possible. I've not seen one roach. The animal rent is ridiculous. There isn't enough lighting around the apartment. I carry pepper spray in case all the lights go out, which happens quite often.
The interstate noise isn't that bad, or I've simply gotten used to it. Our view of a pond full of ducks and willow trees is fantastic. I hope to be leaving this place once the lease is up but fear that every other apartment complex has the same exact problems.
