Not A Great $$ Deal, Not Good With Noise Complaints

I moved to The Cove at Priest Lake (formerly Alta Lake Apartments) several months ago because of its location and the quality of living the advertising offered. The complex is located about 15 miles from the downtown Nashville area, and is in a relatively safe area, although that is changing for the worst, as it is in many areas of the city.
The latest crime "news" is that there is a prowler / peeping tom lurking about the grounds, which makes living alone quite uneasy. Someone was also attacked and nearly murdered on the walking-trail that connects to the complex at the beginning of the summer, so beware (I was never informed of this by management and, rather, found out in the newspaper).
The commute is about average, with a back-road option to the interstate, which saves about 20 minutes from the typical commute.
The maintenance staff is EXCELLENT with fast responses to calls (within 24 hours) and they are very friendly.
Management is typically good with MOST claims. However, if you have a noise complaint, don't even bother calling. I have had problems with a neighbor for several months and they have been terrible with responding to the complaints. There is a clause in the lease which is pretty standard that says that music and such must be kept to a reasonable level (i.e. your neighbors shouldn't hear you) or the lease will be terminated. However, the neighbor in question has a quite LOUD musical instrument (drums) in their apartment which is clearly not reasonable noise, especially at 1 AM. Management claims that we must be more tolerant of their noise (or call the police). Supposedly, they are moving this resident to another apartment within the complex, so he/she can basically annoy another resident. NOT an appropriate response by management.
Noise also poses a problem because the floors are paper thin, so it sounds like our upstairs neighbor is moving about with cinder blocks on their feet. However, it's tolerable compared to the music/instrument issue.
Additionally, as I found out after moving, I didn't get the best deal as far as money goes, with several other area complexes providing much better move-in deals.
My advice: look around before settling for the Cove.
