the management can not get their act together

When we moved in last October we were told many things. A few being -We (my roommate and I) are find to write 2 seperate checks as long as we turn them in at the same time and the total balance of the rent is paid in full. - We signed something saying that if there was even a hint of mold in the apt we would notify the complex immediatly.
The DAY, the DAY we moved in there was a pear tree outside our backdoor. There were rotten pears all over the ground outside. There were wasps and bee's swarming by the thousand and some getting inside our apt. We called about this they DAY we moved in. We were told that it was our responsibility to clean it up because the fenced in area behind our apt was part of our apt. We said perhaps in the future it would be, but there was no way we were cleaning up the mess they DAY we moved into the apt when some of the fruit was over a month old rotted.
Then two months ago we began to have a smell problem in our main bathroom. We finaly discovered the source of our problem was in the water heater closet. And it smelled like mold. We called the apt manager and told her about it. She said someone would be right out to check it. To summerize - two months later after numurous calls and being told that there will always be standing water in the water heater closet- someone from matenience came out. And it was not the water heater. It was a problem with the air. And yes it was causing a smell because of bacteria back up (ie mold). - which for those who don't know that can cause medical problems which is why we signed that form the day we moved in that we would report it. But it takes two months for them to act upon it.
Then TODAY I get a call saying that they no longer will take two seperate checks and that we need to pick them up and write one check. I have called numorous times trying to get ahold of the person who decided to change the policy and get the answer to : 1. When were they going to notify tenants of this' 2. If we were told that two checks was alright and we've never had a problem before, then why are they not living up to what they told us (I work in customer service - i know they have to be good on their word). 3. It's not in our lease so they can take the two checks or not get rent. And they can not legaly say we are not paying rent because they have our checks in their hands right now on time.
Needless to say everytime we've called the management office we've been greeted with nothing but hostility. The staff is rude and talks to people like they are children.
While the apartments are massive and a good price, they are not worth it. The parking lot becomes Neverland at night and is filled with unattended and un-ruley children. You can't park your car without hitting one of them. The apartments are beautiful from the outside but the management staff does not care to take care of the apartments inside (which is probably why they have to renovate everytime a tenant moves out). The amnenites are a joke. And the security gate- all you have to do is pull up 8 inches from it and it automatically opens. So who needs a gate pass' All in all I will NOT be resigning my lease and discourage anyone from renting from the Arbours.
