Great Place to Live for the Money
From: -Anonymous-Date posted: 11/27/2007
Years at this apartment: 2007 - 2007
I've been living here since June 2007 and I like it alot. It is one of the more reasonable apartments in the Fort Sanders area. Here's the pros/cons of Barclay:
Pros-
1. Relatively cheap. My rent for a two bedroom is 665, which includes water, parking, trash pickup, maintenance, etc.
2. It is within walking distance to UT campus. I can walk to my classes in Ayres and Communications building in 10 minutes or so. North-South Bus stop is right on the corner of 16th and Laurel, which is convenient.
3. Nice manager. We recently got a new one about a month ago, and she is very nice and helpful. A big improvement from the last manager earlier this year.
4. Relatively quiet all the time. Since this isn't a "College Apartment complex" there are grad students and older people, not just students. Its nice to not deal with the party noises all the time.
5. Nice apartments. I have the smaller of the two bedrooms (9'x11') and I can fit a queen bed in there no problem.
6. Barclay does not kick residents out of the parking lot on home game Saturdays! This is majorly important to me. Some places sell the parking spaces for money, but inconvenience the residents by not giving them a place to park.
Cons:
1. Not alot of storage space/closet space. If you have a lot of clothes (like me), you're going to HAVE to get bookshelves or extra storage.
2. Elevator can be obnoxiously slow sometimes. (Let's face it...the thing is ancient).
3. Yappy small dogs. I live across the hall from the most annoying dog ever. It barks whenever you pass the door. Since this place it pet-friendly, you might have to deal with stupid dogs.
