Residents Suck, Apartments OK

I only lived here for a few months, but I got a pretty good feel for the complex. The apartments are pretty nice. They have nice details like crown molding and curved shower curtain rods and big closets. The kitchens are really really small and ours was painted over something darker and you can tell because there are spots where the paint job is not so great. The carpeting was a little old and the drywall in my apartment was ridiculous - there were a ton of obvious patch jobs where previous residents had damaged, but they hadn't done a very good repair job.
The big thing for me in this complex was the other people. Our neighbors all around us had at least one dog and they let their dogs go WHEREVER they wanted. I literally watched as one neighbor I was talking to let her dog pee right in the middle of the sidewalk. Gross. It smelled like pee a lot of times as I was walking to my apartment. They also barked at all times of the day. My neighbors also blasted their music waking me up in the middle of the night and another one had people pounding on the front door at all hours of the night. We could hear because there is a huge gap underneath our front door. (Electric bill was pretty high too, compared to some other apts) I also had my purse stolen out of my car one night.
I didn't use them, but I've heard that the amenities are very nice and the staff in the office was very attentive and friendly to me. They seemed genuinely interested in fixing my problems.
I think maybe the problem with the complex is that they don't charge high deposits or fees to move in, so they end up with a bunch of low-income, irresponsible people in the complex. If I were looking, I'd pick something with cheaper rent, a bigger kitchen, and nicer residents.
