[Update]
I have now been sent to a collection company over this under par apartment. The total balance on the collection account is $370.82. When I moved out of my two bedroom and into my studio, the place was even worse than the pictures in this gallery. This place had NOT been "renovated" at all. There were huge stains in the carpet and it looked as though this building structurally was about to collapse. The ceiling looked as though it could cave in at any moment and the vent shafts rattled any time someone upstairs moved. There were two to three inch gaps where the carpet and the molding met. So, I of course disputed this collection. I then received the following itemized list of what I was being charged for:
* Resident Rent - 63.00
* Water Reimbursements - 1.00
* Cleaning Charges - Clean and Patch Carpet - 175.00
* Cleaning Charges -Oven, Fridge, Counters, Sink, Bathtub, Toilet - 65.00
* Cleaning Charges -Throw away Rugs, Tire, Cage, Mini Fridge - 30.00
* Damages - Replace 1 blind - 45.00
* Damages - Replace drip pans on stove - 12.00
* Total Due 274.68
In my defense this was not the first time I had moved out of an apartment. When I moved out of my two BR at Copper Pointe they did not charge me a dime. The resident rent charge is for unpaid rent. Even though I went over all of my final charges and payments that I need to make with the Property Manager (Meryweather) She gave me a total that I needed to pay including my last months rent and I wrote her a check right then and there. All of the cleaning charges are completely bogus and everything that they listed had already been cleaned. The already ruined carpet had been professionally steamed and shampooed. I am not the first person that they have done this to and continue to try and suck every one of their residents dry when they attempt to move out and better themselves by finding a more affordable place to live. They also listed my move out reason on this letter as "Money Problems" when in fact the reason I told them I moved was that I found a two bedroom apartment for $12.00 more a month then what they were charging for a studio!
For almost two years I lived at Copper Pointe apartments. From day one, this place was a dump. I was extremely dissatisfied with the quality of work that was put into this apt. The staff there at CP told us that we would be receiving a newly renovated apt with all new moldings, appliances, carpet, everything! That this apt was one of the newest apartments in the whole complex. I was in a rush to get moved in and they did work with us to get moved in by the date we desired, but upon moving in within 48 hours I immediately started noticing exactly how half assed this place was put together.
* Loud people
* Worthless Management
* People driving insanely fast through the parking lot
* Police there frequently
* Dog feces is everywhere
* Pool equipment damaged ALL summer long
* Gym equipment damaged and most not even functional the entire two years I lived there
A week after we moved in we had made so many complaints about our apt that CP had to send their crew in for a SECOND time to renovate this apt. During which they got paint all over our belongings and completely covered almost all the windows with paint over spray. The over spray was so bad that you couldn't even see out the window!
What you see is NOT what you get. They show you a beautiful model when you are looking at the apartments, you can look at the pictures in the gallery to see what you get when you move in.

I encourage you to do as I did- contact your local area news stations and/or consumer reporters and ask them to investigate the charges. I feel as if Copper Pointe took advantage of me and saw an opportunity to use MY money to pay for routine maintenance that they are responsible for. Here are the e-mail addresses for the people I contacted:
news@wbir.com
shirley.nash-pitts@wvlt-tv.com
awise@wmctv.com
There were also several other people I contacted, but do not still have the e-mail addresses. I encourage you to contact as many people as you can. The more people that request and investigation- more likely we will receive our money back from this horrible management.
