RUN AWAY!! RUN AWAY!!

Years at this apartment: 2001 - 2003
My old roomie and I thought this place looked like heaven: big floorplans, reasonable rent, no wasted space in hallways and decent amenities. BUT...then we moved in. These apartments were built very cheaply with almost no insulation. Windows are all single-pane and the HVAC system is layed out so poorly that only one room ever gets warm or cool. Winter heating bills of more than $200 are the norm here. Constant water problems (they claim to have them fixed now) along with frequent breakdown of everything from drawers to doors to pipes plagued our apartment.
When we moved in, the on-site management was prompt, courteous, and professional. Management has since been replaced with what can only be described as hatefull corporate drones. Now, getting ANYTHING done is a matter of pulling teeth.
The fitness center is functional but sparten...when it's working. Over the past two years small parts have begun to disappear from the combination weight machine and it's getting difficult to use if there's more than one person in the gym. Also, while the stated hours of the fitness center and laundry rooms are 7am to 10pm, you'll almost never find them open that early or late.
While it hasn't been totally bad...I definitely wouldn't move into another Shelter Group property without first doing EXTENSIVE research into its construction and how its residents view management approachability.
