take the good with the bad but prepare for the worst

Years at this apartment: 2002 - 2003
I lived there two years and have had two apartmens on the property. The second was ok but I moved there after major problems with the first. Everytime it rained there was a mudhole infront of my door. Yes, the walls really do leak! They do cut the water off at the worst possible times. They let the water heater fill my apartment with an inch of water. By the time management got around to cleaning it up mildew had infested the apartment. Two weeks later a waterline broke in the apartment above me and flooded my place yet again. The heating bills were outrageous because of all the single pane windows. The dryer vents clog easily. Everything seemed to fall apart in the apartment: Drawers, faucets, lighting fixtures ect. The fire alarm shorted out once and killed power to the entire apartment. If you touch the walls they fall apart. They will take your deposit for no reason. I feel sorry for the younger people they put in the office to field your complaints. They are not equiped to help at all. Go straight to management and yell. Cut them no slack. The place really is a dump and they know it!! Then in a few weeks they just may get around to you. Oh and the pond, my god what were they thinking'
The good: it is very quiet and the units are very bright and clean. The mood in the area is good. I generally felt safe and happy inside the complex. You will meet people there and it is convenient to anywhere in knoxville. My second apartment was a good experience. It was the smallest floorplan and management cut me a deal after all the mess. I would never have stayed but I was in a bind and had no choice at the time. The walls still fall apart but they have not flooded it (yet) and the heating bills are a fraction of what they were in the two bedroom.
Don't live here. It is totally hit or miss because of the cheap contruction. It is obvious many corners were cut! If you must rent here DEMAND you see the apartment ahead of time. Talk to the previous tenant if at all possible. Don't hold your breath when it comes to management.
