The Worst Rip-off EVER!!!
From: -Anonymous-Date posted: 7/15/2003
Years at this apartment: 2002 - 2003
I don't even know where to begin, but here is goes. First of all, these apartments are WAY over-priced...$375/person for a 4 bedroom' They have to be out of their minds. The walls are paper-thin so you can here a pin drop in the hallway and there's no problem hearing any of your roommates alarms either. The floor is cheap...our carpet would rip off the ground just from walking over it. SUH, in addition to many other college apartments, is only in the business for themselves and will find any excuse to take money from you. Oh, and did I mention all the bugs'' There were crickets and spiders EVERYWHERE! So, if the noise from frequent parties doesn't keep you awake then the crickets in your closet will. The staff consists of snobby, unfriendly college students that are not willing to help with anything. I was so relieved when it was close to move-out day. However, that was probably the biggest hassle of all. They send one packet to all 4 roommates describing the moving-out progress, which was thrown away before I even saw it. I found out though that you were to clean everything in the apartment, I mean everything...walls, carpet, refrigerator (inside and out), stove (including the little pans underneath), and every little spot of grease in the oven. They charge large amounts of money for anything that they "don't think has been cleaned." So somehow I ended up with a $300 fine AND they got to keep the $150 deposit. Oh, and if you sign up to have the apt. for 9 months on August 17th be advised that it does NOT mean you have the apt. until May 17th b/c you were to leave by the 7th (even though you have to pay a month's rent up front when you sign the lease). Shady, huh' Speaking of shady, they have you return the keys and the access key, which I enclosed in an envelope, along with the last water/sewage payment and put in their night deposit box, but somehow they claim that they "don't have it on file." However, they did recieve the the check for the water/sewage bill. Something doesn't seem to add up, does it' Like I have said before, this place is the biggest rip-off in Knoxville (along with Jefferson Commons). All they do is take money from struggling college students, which you would think they would put to use for cleaning the inside of each apartment, but no...they leave that up to the tenants. They do NOTHING to upkeep their apartments except make the outside look pretty. People always say not to judge a book by a cover and their right. DO NOT judge SUH by it's "cover" b/c EVERYTHING (except, of course the outside) is crap! If you are looking for an apartment, please, do yourself a favor and stay far away from this one!!
