University Heights is a good place to live. I am a graduate student who went to UT for my undergraduate as well, so I have lived in several apartment complexes over the years. None of them were 1) as cheap as Univ. Heights with utilities included 2) as nice with a pool, tanning bed, workout room, nice apts in terms of carpet, appliances, kitchen, furniture, YOUR OWN WASHER AND DRYER, and YOUR OWN BATHROOM or 3) as well-kept and safe as this area. Even though there was some crime as far as car break-ins and apt. break-ins, it was sporadic and due to the surrounding neighborhood at the bottom of the hill and not due to unsafe people living at the complex.

Overall, a great deal and a good place to live, especially if you have 2 or 3 friends that would be willing to share an apt. However, be warned that once you sign a lease, it is impossible to break unless you find someone to take it over and then they charge you a fee for breaking the lease. No flexibility on this issue so be prepared for the long haul (recommend you sign a 5 month lease and then reup unless absolutely sure you are staying there).
