My stay at Sutters Mill was six months, and I'm really thankful I only signed a six-month lease.

It's a 'decent' apartment for the money you'll pay. I lived in a two bedroom. Sutters Mill does this nifty thing about sticking *all* college students in the same few buildings. So if youre in school and think you're going to have nice, quiet, peaceful nights - think again. I assume their philosophy on this is that if college kids are around other college kids, their less likely to complain. I can only attribute the atmosphere here to a dorm at UT however, I think its much louder here. The office staff doesnt care about the noise issue. They refer you to some courtesy officer in the community, who could equally care less. Its rather funny if you go to the other end of the community, youll see families, children, elderly folks, etc. Then, go to the opposite end, and its party central.

Maintenance is very slow to respond. It took them a week to fix a very small problem in my apartment.

Parking is a HUGE problem. You'll park 7-8 buildings away from your own - so when you go grocery shopping or have a lot to carry in, it's fun to carry it all the way across the complex. Also, you'll see people parking all over the grounds, on the grassy areas, pretty much wherever. So any hope of having decent surroundings in term of landscaping is overtaken by the fact that people park pretty much where they want to.

However, the apartments are decently nice inside. Theyve spent some time/money upgrading them, and they look nice. Its a pretty nice layout/square footage combination for what youre paying especially where theyre located. So, if you never need assistance from the office, will never have a maintenance issue that requires repair within a relatively short time period, and dont mind being kept up all night because your neighbors have 30 people on their patio, move to Sutters Mill.

This reviewer greatly exaggerates the noise and parking problems. Parking CAN be a problem but much of that depends on what time of day you park, etc. Just because you can't pull up to your front door doesn't mean the parking is bad. Also, I am a student and live in a building that has an equal mix of students and families. The only noise issues I have are from the families actually! - especially the -------- that rev their engines and play mariachi music late at night.
