Horrible Attitude & Service

Years at this apartment: 2004 - 2006

I lived with my girlfriend and friend from school for little under two years, and the whole time the management was just plain awful. Issue 1)
Part of our move-in agreement was a third-story apartment centrally located in the complex. When we moved in we were told it wasn't available. We were forced to take an apartment facing the interstate (before the barrier wall was built).
Issue 2) Lazy office staff. Office staff has absolutely no work ethic or problem solving capabilies, needs to be personally walked through your problems and how best to resolve them. EX- We had a problem with squirrels getting trapped in our chimney, and took four phone calls over two days to the managers to even get a maintenance/pest control person out.
Issue 3) Uncaring staff. The biggest issue was the front gate never operational for over a year. What good is a coded-access security gate if it's never closed' It remained open for so long that my roommates forgot their pin codes to even open it. On top of that, when it would work (Eventually) it stopped working after it rained. Another problem was I noticed whole sections of fence were knocked down after reports of vandalism and in one case some pervert was watching people use the hot tub at night. I addressed my concerns to an office worker. "Did you know there is a section of fence missing' The reason I ask is because some stranger was watching my girlfriend and her friends last night use the hot tub." Her reply was, "No, I personally didn't." And she walked away.
Issue 4) Parking. Parking is limited and insubstantial, any we had a problem with partying neighbors letting their friends fill up the parking spots.
5) Promises. We were promised updated lighting fixtures, cabinetry, and a screened-in balcony. None of it ever happened in nearly two years of living there. The first three months one of us went down there every week to schedule the updates and they never arrived. We were given a free carpet cleaning for renewing our lease that never happened. On top of that we were charged for carpet cleaning when we moved out.
6) Pet upkeep. The office issued guidelines for where your pets can and cannot poop/pee are very unclear which leads to people letting their dogs poop everywhere. It's not a good idea to cut through the grass for any reason unless you're going to trash your shoes anyway.

I will say that on the whole everybody we encountered was pleasant. The community is friendly and diverse, but the complete lack of leadership in the management is disappointed. "The Ritz-Carlton of Knoxville" it is not. Don't fall for that line, guys. :) P0MtU6TIdDkM23RTonAS
