Great Place to Live!

Years at this apartment: 2009 - 2009
My wife and I have since bought a house and no longer have Walden Legacy as our address but I have to admit, we miss our apartment. We live in a nice house and enjoy extras that we did not have in our apartment, but we are not more comfortable or secure and our banking account has definitely taken a bigger hit with home ownership. I know many, maybe most, people think renting is just throwing money away. I did a lot of research on that subject while living at Walden Legacy and believe me, home ownership is not always the best move financially. If renting is so great, why did we leave our apartment' That is a question we have asked ourselves many times!
We have nothing but good feelings about Walden Legacy. It is convenient to everything in west Knoxville, the grounds are well taken care of, the free carwash was a great perk, and maintenance was always quick to respond and friendly in doing so. (As examples: Toilet clogged. Responded very quickly. Installed washer and dryer on day we moved in. Installed ceiling fan in bedroom on same day purchased. Extermination service requested and received within twenty-four hours.) I appreciated the dog stands where I could get doggy bags to collect his goodies and deposit them in a special receptacle. We did not use the pool but it was handy to gather and talk even if we did not get wet. I really liked the exercise room and used it frequently. Where we live now does not have a security gate and even though it slowed us down when leaving or returning to our apartment, it provided one more line of security we do not now have.
We moved from a 3000 square foot house to a 900 square foot, one bedroom, one bath apartment. When we told our friends, invariably their response was "Ugh!" They were surprised when we told them how much we enjoyed our apartment. We laughed and said it was like a new minimalism for us. Like our friends, we do not really need much of what we own. (If you think you might like a similar arrangement, ask about their Carriage apartments.)
There are a lot of new or newer apartments in west Knoxville and I am sure they each offer some strengths that people enjoy or no one would rent from them. What really makes an apartment worth the money you pay each month is the people in charge of managing the facility. I personally do not have to have a lot of luxuries but I do insist on being treated with respect. With the numerous interactions I had with the staff, I always felt they valued me as a resident. I feel certain they treat everyone that way, given the chance. I know what lousy service is. I got excellent service at Walden Legacy. I know what it is like to have the person on the other end of the phone make you feel like you are an interruption to their day. Each time I called the front office at Walden Legacy, I was greeted with a friendly voice and a willingness to deal responsibly with whatever my issue was on that day. The ladies you will meet in the front office building are the ones responsible for making our stay at Walden Legacy a truly pleasurable experience.
I hope you will enjoy your stay at Walden Legacy as much as we did.
