I wouldn't recommend Woodlands West unless you are desperate. One of our cars was stolen after we'd been here for 3 months. They require a 2 month notice for moving out, while most other complexes require 1 month. This makes it difficult to find another apartment if you intend to move out of Woodlands West. Noise is a problem here. People walking normally upstairs sound like they're jumping up and down. The management is big on decorating the outside/the grounds, but they rarely do any improvements inside the apartments. If you have a pet they will charge you for repairs whether it can be established that your pet was responsible or not. When asked to fix a short in a ceiling fan, they told us to buy a more expensive bulb. If you leave anything on your balcony or patio except ONE welcome mat, they will remove it and not return it to you. The carpet is filthy as they didn't steam clean it between us and the last residents. They will schedule pest control, for which you must shut your pets in your bedroom, which is fine, but they put up a notice at 7:30 am on the day they are coming instead of giving reasonable notice the night before. They apparently don't employ professional painters, because the paint is slathered on the walls in clumps. The maintenance people have never come when they were scheduled. We are on the bottom floor, and while our apartment doesn't flood, the ground outside our patio door becomes soupy when it rains. A friend of mine was supposed to get a referral prize of $200 when we moved in, but to my knowledge, it was never paid. In speaking with a person who is a supervisor at the power company, I learned that the electric lines that power this complex are underground, inaccessable, and are very old.
There are too many other nicer places to live in Knoxville for someone to settle for Woodlands West.
