When my husband and I first got married, we moved in. It was quaint, quiet, and well-priced.

The first year was great. There were a few rough patches here and there - the maintenance man, Paul, came into the apartment while I was sleeping/changing clothes and always without knocking. Then he would have the audacity to talk my ear off for hours at a time, spewing nothing but racist comments about people. I finally asked him to leave when he kept saying G**damn this and that. I was completely disrespected in my own home.

I was told to "just politely ask him to leave next time" by Linda.

We were pretty good friends with our neighbors. One of them was noisy - slammed her door all the time - and nothing was ever done to stop it. She was one of the reasons we were so happy to leave.

The real trouble started when one of my neighbors said that I verbally harassed her and constantly ran up and down the stairs on our building. I never did anything like this, and when I got the letter, Linda informed me that "several other tenants" had complained about me and she was "just following procedure." Another complaint, she told me, was that I was lounging on the folding table in the laundry room and would not allow the person to place their laundry on it. I recalled the exact situation about which she was speaking, and corrected it - I had my baskets on the laundry table and there was no room for anyone elses...I realize this. When the person came in with about 5 baskets, I told them that I'd move as soon as I could get my stuff folded. She still sided with this same person - and I never had any doubt that it was the same person that said I verbally harassed her.

Still, I was called a liar and threatened with eviction. They never even asked me about it.

Coincidentally, the same person who filed these complaints is the same person who helps inspect the apartments after tenants move out. I conveniently did not get my security deposit back, even though I left the place in better condition in which I found it.

I can't really say much good about the place. Montvale road traffic is atrocious, and the management is detestable. Parking is pretty good, and the price is right, but the fixtures are straight out of the 70's and do not work.
