Roaches, bad service, worn out apartments, things falling apart, weird HVAC system - don't move

I wish I read some of the reviews on this site before I decided to move in here. I did so for the proximity to my daughter's daycare. I honestly believe I made the wrong choice. From the beginning the experience was not positive. The manager of the complex wasn't flexible on any of the terms. They went by the book. I asked to move in 3 days past my move it date, I was told No. I asked for the old and worn out range to be replaced as they were doing it anyway in so many buildings. I was told No. That set the tone of relationship for the entire term.
Less than four days after I moved in, the water heater in the apartment above me burst and flooded my apartment. I had lots of books stored in the storage unit and my entire library was destroyed. It took them more than a week to fix the issue and dry out the carpet. For weeks after the smell of flooded carpet won't go away.
A few weeks after the flood, the clubhouse burned down in the middle of the night. It was hit by a lightning apparently. I chose the apartment so that it would be close to the pool and thus paid extra per month. After the clubhouse burned down, the pool was closed to residents. When I asked if the rent would be adjusted, I was told No and that I should use the pool in another phase. Well, one has to drive to that pool as it is nearly a mile away.
The place is infested with huge roaches. There are everywhere outside the apartment. I killed two inside the apartment. In addition, the ants, spiders were everywhere in the apartment. Even my car got ants in it (as it was parked close to my apartment). After I complained about the problem and supposedly they came out and sprayed, I killed eight roaches in my storage unit, ended up buying my own roach baits and placed them everywhere around the perimeter.
The ongoing problems I had with apartment had to be had to be fixed so many times. The fan makes noise and for three times in a row they didn't find the issue. I had to video tape the fan to show the problem. The range that I asked about to be replaced had broken coils and they had to come out twice to fix it. The old bath tubs and sinks do not drain properly, the carpets are worn out, doors don't close properly.
The most interesting issue is that their HVAC unit runs off the hot air supply. I never heard such a thing, but if you do not want scolding hot water in your apartment, you won't have hot air coming out of your vents.
Overall, I strongly recommend that you look elsewhere to rent a place on Mud Island. I will be doing the same.

Thanks you so much for your review, I was considering moving here but I absolutely can not deal with roaches especially the big ones. I'm glad I came to this site because if EVERYONE is complaining about it that lives there, there's obviously something wrong with the property and management. Thanks again!

An update to my review above. My lease term is nearly up and I can't wait to get out of here. The flood that I talked about in the first review happened again less than two months ago and AGAIN just last night when I came home with my daughter. I suspect by now there is serious damage to the walls of this apartment and I don't even know how many times this apartment flooded before I rented it. There are so many other little and big things that I don't have time to write up about, but the fact that apartment floods three times in six months is definitely not normal. Do not rent from here.
