I signed a lease with the Arbors, I haven't moved in yet, but I already want to move.

I was quite thrilled to rent from a "luxury property". I researched many properties in my goal area and found this one to fit my needs. The description sounded exactly what I was looking for. I submitted an application, paid all the fees requested upfront, and did everything my leasing agent requested me to do.

I was expecting to have a smooth transition into my new living space. On the initial walk through, we did notice a few things that needed to be taken care of before I moved in. The dirty floors on the inside. A muddy (caked-on) balcony. A leak from the upstairs unit that has stained and saturated the roof of my apartment. And a possibly broken AC/Heater. I only guessed that because the AC/Heater door was opened down above the washer/dryer plug-ins. And the maintenance man had to bring a crowbar to open the doors for us to get in. But luckily he didn't have to use it because the sliding glass door was already unlocked. He is the one who confirmed someone has been "fixin-on" the unit. At that point he screwed it back up, and said someone was had been in the unit working on it. That was scary, but I thought that a reputable company like this would stick to thier word, WRONG. So the leasing agent assured me that this would be fixed. I met with her and signed my lease. It did not cross my mind twice to think it still looked like that when I moved in. I went over after I got my key, to my surprise, It looked exactly the way it did the first day I seen it.

I called my leasing agent and expressed to her that I am disappointed, and upset that she would give me a key to a non-ready property. She expressed to me that because I changed my move in date from 11/24/2008 to 11/22/2008 that it is basically my fault, this has not been fixed. I asked her if I should not move in my property until this has been completed, she then told me she can not guarantee that all of these problems can be fixed before 11/24/2008. Which is my original move in date, and the effective date of my lease.

This is not acceptable, but not the end of it.

At that point in time I told her that the heat does not appear to be working, because the door had been unscrewed again. She said to go back to the unit and turn on the heater to see if it worked. I went back last night. I walked in on a roach fiesta. On top of the other problems, I have roaches. I seen about 10, half of them are dead, half of them are alive, and all over the apartment, I seen adult roaches, baby roaches, roaches of all sizes. After I killed about 5, I gave up, because they just kept coming out. I did test the heater, and nothing, it does not work at all. It didn't even read a temperature. Yesterday was my new move in date, and after I came back to move in some of my belongings I didn't want to. It was 19 degrees last night according to the weather channel in Memphis, and I have a two year old. I can be locked up for having a child in those conditions. I am really thinking about breaking a lease that has never officially started because I see the signs of a very bad relationship. I had to go out last night and purchase roach bombs, I have never in my life, lived with roaches. I don't intend to.

The appliances are old and falling apart. The calking in the bathroom is old. It isn't as nice as I thougt it would be. Those are minor to the big issues.

This is not good business. And I am not happy with the level of service I have received. P0MtU6TIdDkM23RTonAS
