This complex is hell on earth, seriously. My husband and I moved to Memphis in the middle of December 2005; it's March 2006, and we're counting the days 'til our lease is up. When we moved here, everything was fine. The problems started in January when a new owner and new management came in. Needless to say, they have no clue what running a business is about! The place is now called Avery Park, and everything is totally screwed up! I lived here during my first year of marriage (in 2001). The only problems that we had were when our washing machine broke and a kid broke our car window. Now, the staff is just terrible! The new manager is incompetent and she has a serious attitude problem. The other woman in the office is great, though. I don't even think that the maintenance men have any maintenance experience. They were given the simple task of fixing the bath tub (it was not draining properly), and they couldn't do that right (my husband fixed the tub)! We have a HUGE roach infestation; they supposedly came to spray(they didn't leave a note like they usually do), but I've found bugs in my freezer and in my pantry!!! This is unacceptable! I'm trying to start a family right now. A pregnant woman can't live in a roach infested apartment, with roaches crawling around her food!!! I also asked them to fix the shower (the faucet stays on while the shower is on; and scalding hot water comes out of the faucet, while freezing cold water is coming out of the shower), and that was a month ago! I don't care what anyone says, a maintenance request doesn't take that long! I forgot to mention how we had to prove to the manager that we paid rent, although she's the one who took our money, gave us a reciept, and she handles the bookkeeping. And this was after she gave us three different figures for rent (I have the day, time, and date to prove it), and we ended up paying the higher rate because she threatened to evict us (after she admitted that she gave me three different figures, but she had no idea how she came up with those figures). AND THEY CAN'T FIND OUR LEASE AGREEMENT!!! How's that for a great management team! And don't get me started on safety! I walked outside to get in my car one night, and saw a man rolling on the ground in pain! And they've been putting up a security gate for about a month now; the workers work on it for a day, and don't come back for another two weeks! The manager, nor the owner, has returned any of my phone calls over the last week. But things could be worse. My pregnant cousin and her two daughters live here, and their apartment is infested with rats!!!

This is an update: they finally fixed my leaking dishwasher by replacing it; and they FINALLY fixed the shower and tub! I still have the bug problem; when I approached the manager again, she said "No one else in that building has complained", as if she's implying that I've done something! The building is right next to the overflowing dumpster! The last straw was when a HUGE spider crawled into my bed and onto my shoulder! So I trapped it and took it into the office the next morning. And, if no one else in my building has that problem, why is there a HUGE dead cockroach in front of my downstairs neighbor's door (it's been there for two days)?

Wow! I can believe the things I JUST READ. I thinking of moving in next month. Please give me more feedback.
