I was a tenant at Avery Park Apts. for 8 months. Never late on my rent, always on time.At first I thought that it was an ok place to live. I lived there with my two small children. One morning I was going into my apt after dropping my mother off at work around 7:00 am..As I was getting my son out of his car seat, a man came up behind me and placed his hand over my mouth, telling me not to scream and that he had a gun and he would kill myself and my kids..he then forced his self into my apartment where he searched for more money and anything else he could take, We were truly blessed because he left without physcially hurting either one of us.After calling the police, they told me that I needed to tell the management of the complex what happened even though they saw the police cars at my apt, no one came over to see what was going on..When I went to tell them what happened, the look on their face were as if this type of thing has happened before. I was told to come back after I calmed down. I couldn't believed that I was told that..A few days past and a detective went to talk to management about what happened, he to was given a cold shoulder..when I went to inform management that I was moving because I was afraid for mine and my kids life,I was looked at as if I was lying..I also found out that no one at the complex had any knowledge of what happened to me, so they informed no one..I wasn't the only single mother living there..Management should have informed other tenants of what happened so that they could be aware and alert. It floors me that I was given attitude..I was the victim..So if anyone is considering this apt complex, please be aware of the type of enviroment that you will be living in..
