Years at this apartment: 2007 - 2008
Avery Park was my first apartment ever to rent. I must say the first two months of living in Avery Park, the roaches were horrible! I have never been an insect lover, and still am NOT. The roaches were water bug size, perhaps half the size of my pinky finger! This is no lie. I'd never seen such before. When I would ask them to spray, it would be weeks until I could hear from them again about spraying my apartment. I'd requested that I be in the apartment while they spray ( being that I am a housewife, so I'm at home 24/7), and of course they never showed up. The leasing office will tell you they have sprayed when knowing they hadn't. Also, in the winter of 2007, my heater went out. I kept smelling a burning smell , and i knew something was wrong. When I called the leasing office, she assured me, it is only because the summer months have passed, so maybe it's the smell from the heater not being used. NOT! My heater may have blew up for all I knew, if my husband hadn't have looked at it, and told me never to use it again. My husband is a truck driver, so he's rarely at home throughout the week, and I was so lucky he'd come home in due time to advise me. ANother problem is the maintenance. back to my heater being broke down, they took 2 whole weeks to fix my heater, and only gave me a small room heater to plug in 4 days AFTER I complained about my heater not working. What is that'! The neighbors are always bickering, and bbq'ing on the patio when the leasing office stated no BBQ'ing on the patios, since it'd been burned down once before. The young men in the parking lot, drive crazy as if they're circling Beale Street!!!
The only good thing I can say about this place is that the groundskeeper is the nicest person ever. He keeps the landscape nice, and the parking lot. Besides that, the place is ruckus.So.. don't let the clean looking parking lot fool you, and the undrained POOL, that hasn't ever been drained or covered during the winter months!! So no, I wouldn't swim in it either.
