Going downhill rapidly

I first moved into Silver Creek Apartments in June of 2003. At the time, they were managed by Sentinel. It was GREAT - the property always looked good, the management was friendly, and whenever I called with a maintenance issue, it was fixed that day or at latest the next day. I was ALWAYS told when maintenance had been there, and if the were not able to complete the work they let me know why, and approximately when they WOULD complete it. It was great!

Then, the property was sold, and a new management company took over (I'm not sure of the name at the time, but it is now under Greystone). The new property manager was a drug addict, and stole money from residents - she would take the rent in cash, and not turn it in. (Luckily, I was never caught because I always pay by check or money order and keep the receipt.) The maintenance was still good, and I didn't hear about the stolen rent until after that manager left. Then, yet a NEW manager took over.

I have had more troubles getting maintenance in to fix things since this new manager has gotten here. In the summer of 2005, I had a leak in the air conditioning system - significant enough that it filled a 2-quart pitcher within hours. I called no less than 4 times to get it fixed, and it was never fixed. I don't know if anyone ever came to my apartment to even TRY to fix it - no note was left to indicate they did. I finally gave up and just kept emptying the pitcher. The leak damaged the cabinet under the bathroom sink, the wall behind the utility closet, and caused mold to grow under the carpet. I called again this summer to try to get it fixed, and they FINALLY came out after 3 phone calls and threats to contact Health and Human Services because of the mold issue.

The attitude of the new manager and assistant is also REALLY negative. I don't expect anyone to be subservient in their job, but CORDIAL would be nice. They barely answer the phone, they are often not in the office during the hours posted, and when they are, it's like you are an inconvenience to them.

I would STRONGLY NOT recommend Silver Creek Apartments - I am moving out at the end of this lease, and I will NOT stay at another Greystone Property.
