slowly went downhill

Years at this apartment: 2003 - 2007
I lived in the aparment complex for 3 1/2 years. During the span of those years, the apartments changed management 3 times. The wall here are paper thin, I always had problems with noise from the apartments both directly above me and next to me all hours of the day. The management seemed nice enough at the time I moved, but it has definitely had it's share of horrible management as well. Last July while I was honeymooning we recieved a notice that we still owed $125 in rent when we had just paid rent. Luckily, a friend was going to get our mail every day and saw the note saying we'd be evicted if not paid. I called the complex and explained we were on our honeymoon, and asked how we still owed that amount seeing as though we paid the same amount we always paid, and was informed, rather rudely, that our lease had expired and the rate went up. They had never given us notice of our rate increase and this was never even mentioned when we gave the check to the girl in the leasing office. They finally agreed to waive the charge, but when I told them we planned to move out in December, the manager very rudely told me the sooner we moved out the better. this is no way to treat a tenant, especially one that has lived there 3 years and always pays rent ON TIME!! We also had a problem with a toilet that felt like it was about to tip over everytime you used it. This was immediately brought to managements attention. the first solution (by the old maintenance guy) was to re-caulk it needless to say this did not solve the problem by any means. I then put in a second request, and a third, forth, fifth, you get the idea. After 3 months had gone by without anyone coming by to look at it, i sought out maintenance myself. The new maintenance guy told me he never recieved any requests at all to come check it out, and once he came and looked at it, it was immediately resolved.
Now, a few months before we moved out, it changed management AGAIN, and a TON of changes were made-new siding, new windows, leasing office updated, but I never saw or heard of any updating to individual apartments, although they are desperately in need of them. The new leasing agents are very friendly, and seem to know what they are doing, and it's about time. Maybe they will be turning a once nice quiet place to live back to the way it was and should be. One can only help.
