I wrote a review right after I moved in, in June, 2004. Well, this year I renewed my lease and I'm still at Edgewater. I'm still very happy with the choice I made to rent here. The neighbors are wonderful. There's some noise but nothing bad enough to complain about. As far as the maintenance, well, I still have not had a serious problem. It helps that one of my close neighbors is in the Maintenance Department!! I did have an issue late last summer with the air conditioning going out. I discovered it late in the evening, ran out and bought a couple of fans, called maintenance first thing the next morning, and by the time I got home that afternoon, my apartment was cool again. I had a heater problem at one point, and called maintenance. They said they'd be out to fix it. It wasn't fixed when I got home that afternoon, so I called back up there to ask why. They explained it was a common problem at that time (and I knew that to be true), and my heater was fixed by the next afternoon. I didn't consider it a serious enough problem to chew someone out for. I just turned on my portable heater and dealt with it. I've had a few other issues come up, but they've always been right on top of things. I have no complaints about the Maintenance Department. In the Rental Office, they didn't have my paperwork on site when I went to renew my lease, so that took a couple extra days to get it back. It was a bit frustrating and the Assistant Apartment Manager (') made it out to be MY fault that the paperwork wasn't there. But in the end, everything worked out. It's still a pretty safe place to live, and we rarely have any problems (other than the occasional domestic dispute!). The other apartment complexes in the area have MUCH more trouble than we do. A lot of that stems from the fact that most of us in the same building know each other and we watch out for each other. I went on vacation for a week earlier this year, and apparently forgot to tell my next-door neighbor and my downstairs neighbors that I was leaving (I thought I'd mentioned it). Both sets of neighbors got very worried when they hadn't seen or heard anything out of me for a few days. When I got back, I got chewed out for not having told anyone I was leaving!! That made me feel good to know that someone was watching out for me! Sometimes I'm outside late at night, and I feel safe. Just use common sense and you should be fine. Pay attention to your surroundings when you're outside, look before you answer the door, keep your doors locked, meet your neighbors and learn their schedules and their vehicles so you'll know what to look out for....common sense stuff. Like I said before, I'm still very happy at Edgewater. I would recommend it, and I have!
