I had a lease with Fieldstone for 14month and had no major problems while there. I did have an unexplained leak in the wall that I couldn't get anyone to fix for over a month, but the damage it caused was their own fault. However, when it was time to move out, I called and spoke to the manager about setting up at time to do the final walk-through. She laughed and said people don't do them with her and that if there were problems, she would call me. Needless to say, I call a MONTH later and then they tell me that they want to replace the carpet in my old apartment because it was "dirty" and wanted me to pay $300 for it. She also stated she had pictures. So, the next day I went up there, demanding to see the pictures, and they must have magically disappeared, because she didn't have any! She then notified me that she read my walk-through from when I moved in and since it noted that my carpet already had stains on it, I would not have to pay.
So, please make sure you do the final walk-through so they can't try to screw you out of money. Also, it might also help to read the Uniform Residential Landlord and Tenant Act to review your rights as a tenant. Good Luck!
