I applied for an apartment unit and was approved. I was given the keys to view the designated unit. I reported to the move-in agent that the carpet was damaged and the door appeared to have been broken into; the door frame was not secure. On the day before my tentative move-in date, I received a call and was advised that my file was missing. Can you believe that! I was asked to come in and complete another application and bring check stubs. When I arrived, I express my concerns of possible identity theft. However, I was assured that the files were possibly accidently shredded. Incidently, while in the process of completing the second application, I was advised that I had a high credit score, as the move-in agent pointed to my full credit report (with my score). However, I was advised that it was against policy for me to review it. But, I saw enough to be concerned. The complex is now, as recent as this week, managed by another company. All of the previous staff, accept the person before-mentioned, is no longer employed there. Therefore, I stopped by the office and asked to review my files. Wouldn't you know it...I was advised that the previous management did not require a full credit report with a score. Also the document that I previously saw (with credit score) was not in my files. I REALLY FEEL THAT I MIGHT JUST BECOME VICTIMIZED BY ID THEFT. PLEASE BE AWARE! Oh, by the way, it's been two weeks and the door is still in the same condition, unsecure.
