I lived here for 4 years. 15 years ago, Watergrove was THE place to live if you were a 20 something looking for a cool apartment to live in. They had sponsored pool parties, middle class professional residents etc. I moved in to Watergrove in 1999 with my best friend. We immediately noticed that it had "degraded" since the late 80's when it was still a new complex. However, it was still a pretty good place to live considering the price. The grounds are still some of the prettiest in apartment living with the lakes and trees. Maintenance was always good for the entire time we lived there.

The problem was over the 4 years we lived there. The quality and ethnicity of people moving in the apartments started to drastically shift. We found out a large number of apartments were being leased to section 8 bums! I wondered how the guy 2 doors down from me that never worked and stood outside with his stained wife beater and ghetto jungle music was able to pay his rent! We had several shootings, my roomates car was almost stolen(thanks to kill switch) and several break ins around our area. The mailboxes were broken into. The leasing office did nothing. The walls are extremely thin and complaints about noise will get you nowhere.

This is basically the new projects for east memphis.. STAY AWAY!

If you have gold teeth and are on a government check, then you'll feel right at home!

Your problem had some valid points but you sound kind of stuck up and ignorant. I don't know what part of town you are from, but you shouldn't judge people like this and the gold teeth and government check comment almost makes you sound a little racist.
