A lot better than what I was being told

I read almost every review of the Madison here, and I have to admit I was a little - a lot worried before I took the tour and started living there. Individual experiences are going to differ wildly, of course, but it was nowhere near the nightmare that I expected from what I had heard.
-Maintenance is QUITE slow, but none of the things we needed fixed were hazardous or dangerous to our health, and anything that did require urgent service was usually same-day, depending on when we called. The one pain in the neck was getting a new washer when our old one went out on us. It took mainentence several weeks of us calling every few days to get a new washer out to our apartment.
-I neither was victim of nor witnessed nor heard about a single criminal incident the entire time I've resided here. People tend to want to drive the wrong way out the circular entryway (which I'll admit is poorly designed), and the gates tend to stop closing or just get knocked down on a regular basis, but that's the worst thing I've noticed. They actually have a police officer at the pool to keep non-residents(&guests) out. Kudos.
-They're serious about enforcing the rules. I should know, I was warned my old car would be towed because it had expired tags and was on jacks. Personally irritating, but objectively I appreciate that they stay on top of stuff like that.
-Never had a single problem with noise of any kind since we moved in till now.
So I hope everyone reading these reviews gets a more balanced look at the complex. It's not perfect, but overall I'm quite happy with my experience and would recommend it to almost anybody.

I currently have a friend who lives in this residence and from my knowing it seems fine and no different than any other apartments in Memphis. Crime happens in the whole shelby county area so this is not a reason to complain about the apartments in general.

This place is not safe!! I was in my car about to go in my apartment and two men came up with a GUN and robbed me I had no cash on me but they took my iphone. Just last week they where sending out letters saying someone's apartment got robed while he was at work during the day and a women got her purse taken from her in the parking lot! Everyone has the same gate code so why even have a gate? If you like to feel safe at home do not move here!
