This apartment complex is okay. We have lived here for 2 years in a 2 br/1 ba on the third floor. The good things about Madison are: 1. It looks good. This is one of the nicest interiors I've seen, period. 2. It is a good location in the city. 3. Rent is unbelievable. I really really hate to leave but the bads are outweighing the goods. I pay 599 a month for a large apartment. It wasn't raised when I renewed my lease. 4. The bathroom is great. It is huge and the bathtub is even more huge. The water pressure is good, even on the 3rd floor. 5. No bugs. The first month we had a few spiders and silverfish. Spraying has kept them away (at least that we can see and that's all that matters!). 6. Lots of outlets on the walls.
The bad things: 1. The vinyl in the kitchen and bathroom is terrible. NEVER looks clean. Hint: You can get scruff marks off with nail polish remover. But I'm not scrubbing the floor every day just because it's cheap plastic. 2. Parking is terrible. You can rent garages but they're expensive. 3. The paint shows a mark every place it's touched. Not to mention a sloppy painting job. 4. Inadequate heating and cooling system. The windows are bad at letting heat and cold in, and parts of the apt are always uncomfortable (aka the entire 2nd bedroom). 5. The construction going on at Walnut Grove and Humphreys (this is not the fault of the apartments) is making this area really hard to travel in, and that will last the next couple of years.
All in all I would stay here if I weren't on the 3rd floor, if I knew I'd have a parking spot near my building, and if the construction at that intersection was gone. I'm leaving but I'm having a hard time beating this inexpensive nice apartment.
