I moved into Monticello Apts. with very high hopes of a pleasant community to live in. 1 week, and 6 days after moving in, my apartment was broken into while I was at work. The criminal(s) stole my (2) laptop pc's. I must admit they didn't trash the place at all. Just got the computers and left. Soon after that, I began to see large water roaches. These roaches were 1 1/2" to 2" long! I do not like bugs at all people. So after I sprayed twice, and the complex sprayed twice, I only have small roaches...

Also, at this complex, the garbage area is right in front of the end apartments' patios. So when I come into my patio, I am overwhelmed with the smell of garbage, and flies and gnats. The gnats were terrible!!!! Now that the weather has cooled off, I don't see many of them. If was to the point that I couldn't cook food, because there were so many flying around, they would fly into my food while I was preparing it. I couldn't leave my cups uncovered while I was drinking out of them or anything. Horrible.

Now since the weather has cooled, I don't have anymore gnats, and the garbage smell isn't that bad. Hickory Hill and Memphis in general is just not a safe place to live. You have to be careful. My suggestion is to invest in renters' insurance, which I now own since my apt. was broken into, and watch your surroundings. I also suggest a 2nd floor apt. The floors in the apts are very loud and you can hear every step your neighbors make...
