River Trace Sucks!!!!

I've lived at River Trace Apartments almost 4yrs and loved it until recently. I live in the biggest 1 bedroom apartment that I've ever seen for this cheap of a price...Must be cheap for a reason. Maintenance has been a problem since I moved in and you have to call several times to get anything fixed. There was a problem with my door when I moved in & a maintenance man told me that he would be back Monday to put another part on my door. Well, Monday never came.

I reported that my key wouldn't open the door to my storage room on the patio and the same sorry maintenance man broke the door open with a screwdriver. I told him that I assumed that he had a master key and told him that he was tearing the wood off of my patio. His response was, "You want it open, don't you'" He broke the door apart between the door knob & frame & wood fell all over the place. I could've did this myself. I hope I'm not charged for the damages when I move out.

My apartment was burglarized this past Christmas and I came in from work to find that just about everything in my apartment was gone. Both of my TVs were gone, DVD player, DVDs, CDs, playstation, computer, printer, scanner, 4 boxes of jewelry, Christmas gifts, Christmas tree, & the box that the tree came in. The burglars kicked my door in & the doorframe was laying across the room, with the chain lock still attached. I wasn't able to live in my apartment for about a week and had to light a match under maintenance to get them to build my door frame back up. I called and went to the leasing office several times to follow up. He put the same raggedy piece of wood back up that the police used to get fingerprints from. There was black fingerprint dust all over the wood & he didn't bother painting it. I told maintenance that the door was still weak & that I could kick it in myself. He said that it wasn't weak & nobody in the leasing office gave a rat's ass & just looked at me like I was crazy. Of course they didn't care, b/c nobody broke into their home.

River Trace seems to be getting a little too hood for me. I can't even put my rent in the drop box w/o seeing a group of guys walking by at night yelling. The pool needs a lifeguard or some type of adult supervision b/c children scream at the tops of their lungs, run around the pool, & jump in & out of the water. This is a problem for me b/c the pool is right behind my apartment and they wake me when I'm trying to sleep.

The people that live above me stomp on the floor, like they're on a step team in a sorority, and make noise all day and night. It doesn't matter what time of the day or night it is. Dogs are barking and jumping all over the place upstairs and I've called the police about 6 times on them & the leasing office about 4. Nothing has been done and the people still live above me! The man that lives above me hammered on his floor, which is my ceiling for a straight 5hrs, until I finally beat on the ceiling at 10p.m. & complained.

Management sucks! It was time to renew my lease & no one even put the reminder in my door that the prices would increase, like they normally do. I had to chase the manager down for at least a week just to renew my lease. I didn't want to renew it, but I hadn t had time to look for another apartment, nor did I have time or money to move. The employees in the leasing office kept said that they told the manager to call me, but she never would. When I finally met with her, the employees kept barging in her office and interrupted our meeting. I finally told her that I had to go to work & that we'd have to continue another day.

I put in a maintenance request about my freezer making a loud noise, sort of like a barking dog. Surprisingly, maintenance responded afterhours. Then again, I had never seen this man before, so he may have been new. I called back w/a similar problem a couple of days later & no one ever showed up. I called the office a week later to check on the request & it seems as though no one even put the request in the system. Refrigerator/freezer problems are supposed to be top priority. I told the employee to forget about it b/c my freezer wasn't making noise anymore & they didn't bother to come, anyway. I put in another maintenance request & started asking questions about the procedure to move when your lease is up. When I came in from work the next day, a receipt was in my apartment notifying me that maintenance had come. So basically, the only reason they came the next day is b/c I talked about moving, which I still plan to do.

Also, I had to get a washer & dryer b/c there were only a few washers & dryers, & they were always in use. The men in the laundry room would stare at me & made me feel uncomfortable. I came home from work one day to find signs in the yards reminding everyone that rent was due. It's funny that they can remind tenants that rent is due, but they can't remind maintenance about the tenant's maintenance requests. I enjoyed the spacious apartment, but have decided that moving to a smaller apartment in a decent neighborhood is worth the move. I heard that maintenance is great at the new apartment and that the new apartments have alarms. At this point, I'm willing to take a chance living under a bridge!
